What were the top 5 angles of the territory you grew up watching.  Not anything you read about in magazines or years later got to see on tape.  Say the first 10 years you watched wrestling.

For me Pittsburgh/Cleveland and WWWF

1.  Spiros Arion Turn on Chief Jay Strongbow

2.  Johnny Powers heel turn on Ernie Ladd

3.  Ken Patera breaking Billy White Wolfs neck

4.  The third Executioner and the stripping of the Executioners of the WWWF tag titles.

5.  Battman unmasks angle

Mine is 70's and early 80's Mid Atlantic

It's subjective of course but here's four that really stand out:

1.  Hat and Robe angle b/w Flair and Mulligan.

2.  Gene & Ole Anderson's feud with Wahoo McDaniel and Paul Jones over the World Tag Belts including the "Ultimate Sacrifice" match (which was on TV btw).

3. Greg Valentine's feud with Wahoo where he broke Wahoo's leg.

4.  The Steamboat/Youngblood vs. Slaughter/Kernodle World Tag feud.

There were tons of other ones that were great to me.

Larry Legend and Bruno

Blassie showing up for a TV title match against Morales with his arm in a sling. Pedro stupidly turns his back and Fred whips the sling off and starts strangling Pedro. You see his arm wasn't really injured at all. It was a fake injury. He was really fine. No problem with the arm.

Arion stuffing the feathers down the Italian Injuns throat and Jay letting off a string of obscenities on TV.

The Snuka, Stevens, Rogers, Albano foursome.

Masked Superstar beating the shit out of Eddie Gilbert and reinjuring his neck with caused Bobby B. great duress.

HONORABLE MENTION: SSBG ripping the WWF title belt to shreads with his bare hands which caused the above mentioned Bobby B. to break down in tears and weep piteous tears of angst.

What was the Ultimate Sacrifice match?

Pretty cloudy memories from the time frame that featured the demise of Big Time Detroit Wrestling, the NWF, & Einghorn's IWA as this stuff continued to air on local channels 43 & 61 well after they were pumping out new shows. It was always hard to tell what, if anything, was brand new.... I'll always remember the Cleveland riot though, and Ernie Ladd's heel turn in the IWA.

So I guess I'd have to jump ahead a few years and go with GCW on local channel 61 and the WWF on channel 19.

Not calling these the TOP 5 ANGLES, just the 5 earliest angles worth anything that I remember vividly.

1. Tommy Rich vs. Buzz Sawyer will forever be embedded in my mind.
2. Piper with the coconut over Snuka's head is another memory that sticks out.
3. Slaughter vs. Iron Sheik
4. Paul Orndorff turning on Hogan
4. Roddy Piper's feud with Adrian Adonis and his face turn was HUGE.

I'd probably have more GCW memories from when I actually watched it if the channel came in perfect more often. Damned Rabbit Ears!

Wahoo has made the hot tag and is cleaning up on Ole when Gene sticks his head through the ropes.  Ole slams Wahoo's head into Gene's knocking Gene out cold onto to floor and Wahoo out cold in the middle of the ring.  Ole pins Wahoo and they regain the titles.

This was only one of a bunch of matches that these guys had over about a year or so.  Some of them went as long as 90 minute draws.

I don't know if they were the best WWF angles, but here are the most memorable from about 1981-1986 when I was really getting into wrestling.

1. Orndorff turns on Hogan

2. "Piper's pit" vs. "The Flower Shop" and Piper destroying the set with his crutches

3. Masked Superstar "injuring" Backlund, forcing Skaaland to throw in the towel against Sheik in just a monumental shocker

4. Piper-Snuka coconut incident

5. Albano stealing Snuka's money and turning him face

Mid-South Wrestling:
1. Freebirds "blind" JYD
2. Murdoch attacks and bloodies Dibiase before his title match with Flair, and gives him the brainbuster during it. Unfortunately, Murdoch left the territory just as the feud was getting started.
3. The MX and Cornette attack Bill Watts, leading to the "Last Stampede" program, which set attendance/money records that stood until the Monday Night War era.
4. The RnR vs. MX series
5. Dibiase trashes Duggan's Cadillac

WCCW:
1. Gordy slams the cage door on Kerry's head, kicking off the Freebird/VE program
2. Adams turns on the VEs
3. The Gino/Chris/VEs hair angle
4. As a match stipulation, Jimmy Garvin has to work on the VE's ranch for a day
5. Garvin/Adams/Precious/Sunshine series

You described that angle perfectly.

Kudos, sir.
