If I remember correctly, the storyline was that the Hiro Matsuda had taught Lex a sleeper hold, so Dusty recruited Johnny Weaver to teach him a sleeper hold as well, the "Weaver Lock". That led to show down of sleeper holds between Weaver and Hiro in which Hiro refused to release the hold and Johnny bled from the mouth until Dusty made the save.
I remember how the Dusty-Luger feud started. Dusty and lex had a match either it was a double DQ or one of the two got DQ. However Dusty thought he won the Title cause he put Luger out with the sleeper hold that Weaver taught him. After that he use the Weaver Lock all the time.
I remember Dusty yelling at JJ saying Get him ready Get him Ready.
I dont remember the Weaver Hiro angle.

The top 5 angels of the AWA that I watched in the first 10 years were these. Late 60's to late 70's.
1. The Crusher vs Mad Dog feud - This was the feud in AWA history. Bringing in Dick The Bruiser and Buther Vachon made something great even better. And then the cage match.
2. The unmasking of Dr. X - He was the top villian for the previous 3 years and was probably the biggest mystery ever in the AWA. To suddenly have him turn face and unmask was something you thought you would never see.
3. Ray Stevens turns on the Heenan family - This was a well done, long drawn out angle. You didn't think it was going to happen. Then finally they pulled the trigger.
4. Larry Hennig face turn - A long time villian coming in to save his mortal enemy's son.
5. Bullinski vs Bockwinkel feud - It started with a low blow that caused the only time out I ever saw in wrestling. That's just not supose to happen, just ask Roger Kent. Then the feud was on. The Bull vs The Fox.

WWF
1) Iron Sheik injures Bob Backlund via swinging clubs enroute to capturing the WWF World Title. Shortly thereafter Hulkamania in the WWF is born.
2) Greg Valentine injures Tito Santana's leg (had no idea at the time he did this angle also with Wahoo and Strongbow) and wins the I-C title leading to a grudge bout for the Intercontinental title in a cage.
3) Paul Orndorff, his ego hurt, turns on Hogan in tag match vs. Bundy & Studd.
4) Randy Savage injures Steamboat's larynx with the ring bell.
5) The Honky Tonk Man along with the Hart Foundation threatens to hit Elizabeth with the guitar...Macho Man makes the save leading to an unexpected face turn.
Canadian International Wrestling
1) The Garvins attack the Rougeaus younger brother and disrespect their father (or uncle?)
2) King Tonga defeats Dino Bravo for the Canadian heavyweight title. Later the two would team together out of mutual respect.
3) The Masked Superstar challenging Rick Martel for the AWA title. This would lead to a tag match with Martel & Bravo vs. Superstar & Tonga
4) The Road Warriors - Long Riders feud getting off the ground.
5) Jacques Rougeau bodyslamming Abdullah the Butcher
Honourable Mention: Young upstarts Tom Zenk and Dan Kroffat trying to eke out upset wins and sometimes succeeding.
AWA
1) Stan Hansen defeating Rick Martel with a Boston crab.
2) The Road Warriors vs. the Freebirds
3) Mad Dog Vachon building a coffin for Fatwell

5) Jerry Lawler vs. Kerry Von Erich at Superclash III
Calgary Stampede
1) Owen Hart upsetting Makhan Singh to become North American champion
2) Owen unexpectedly teaming up with Jason the Terrible vs. Karachi Vice

The Santana-Valentine one was cool because when Tito finally won the title back, he had been chasing Valentine for so long that nobody thought he would win it back. Total stunner. The Baltimore crowd looked like it went absolutely nuts when he escaped first.
Curt's turn to win the title and the whole "roll of dimes" controversy was extremely well done and often doesn't get it's just due.

I'll stick with MidSouth/UWF 82-87 (I know I saw Mid-South before 82, as I remember the old theme and a few other things, but I didn't pay it nearly as much attention and have very vague memories. I certainly remember people talking about the Freebirds and JYD being blinded, but have no memories of actually watching it. Possibly even saw some of that on GCW/TBS too, but I'll start in 82).
There are so many great ones, this is hard to do! I have to leave out a ton of great ones. I'll pick my most memorable, as opposed to the ones with the biggest business impact.
1) Chase for Flair's belt in 85 - This involved Dick Murdoch turning on Butch Reed over the North American title, Dick Slater and Ric Flair injuring Reed, and the great Dibiase/Flair TV match (the most memorable TV match of my time watching wrestling) that ended with a brainbuster on the concrete. I very clearly remember seeing this show and being stunned. Dibiase had gone from the most hated guy in the area to a hero over the course of an unbelievable wrestling show. The fans chanted "Teddy, Teddy" throughout the rest of the show. GREAT stuff.
2) Jake unmasks Nightmare, Barbarian and Humongous attack Jake - I was going nuts when I saw the Nightmare unmasked by my man Jake (he and Barbarian were my favorites). The whole time I'm thinking (where's Barbarian? He and Humongous will finally face off!). Then Barbarian arrived and he and Humongous had a stare down! YES! It finally going to . . . NO . . . NO!!!! Barbarian, don't!! This match directly led to Jake becoming my favorite wrestler of all time. Along with the Flair/Dibase match a couple of weeks later and the fact that I was now going to live matches every time they came to town, this completed my transformation from fan to hardcore, over the top fanatic who wanted to get into the wrestling business.
3) Ted Dibiase turns on JYD - My Dad took me to my first live show in early summer 1982 (claw found the card for me - thanks again Claw!) and it included a Bob Roop vs Ted Dibiase North American title macth. I have some strong memories from that match and show, but some are obscured by time, of course. What I recall is that my Dad, who did not like wrestling, kept saying that Dibiase had to be a bad guy because of the way he was acting, but I knew Dibiase from TV and kept telling Dad that he was a good guy and Roop was bad. I remember talking to people around us that said Ted was acting strange. We were behind on TV in my area (over a month behind I believe), so Ted had turned, but we didn't know it. It aired shortly thereafter and led to the hottest era in Mid-South history, before Dundee showed up.
4) Midnight Express vs Rock n Roll Express - I have to include this just as a general feud. The cake in the face beginning was an all-time Mid-South moment that was re-shown several times (and in the show intro) and was part of the great Last Stampede buildup which deserves mention. The whole "Express rivalry" was an unbelievably big deal. Those who didn't live in the area probably don't realize how hot Mid-South was in 84. And this feud was the top thing among a whole host of great feuds and angles. I had gotten weary of Mid-South a bit in mid/late 83 (as did many fans, it was a down period), but being mesmerized by Cornette and the incredible buzz at school/playgrounds about the Rock/n' Roll brought excitement to wrestling that I'd never known before.
5) Best Dressed Man Contest/ Ted Dibiase attacks Duggan's car I remember watching this like it was yesterday. Despite the greatness of 84 that got me back into Mid-South wrestling and the fact that 84 Mid-South is far and away my favorite season to watch on video of any wrestling, this event in early 85 was a major point in my slow and gradual transformation from casual fan to all-out fanatic.
Honorable Mention: JYD/Mr. Olympia vs Ted Dibiase/Matt Borne Loser Leaves Town/ intro Stagger Lee - (Hacksaw Doogan dressed as the Gorilla from the State Fair and sitting with the kids, only to interfere in the match, making the unbeatable JYD lose, which led to a bully from JYD's childhood and rumored to be on the lam Stagger Lee appearing to pay JYD back for some favor! This is another one that received considerable playground buzz) Magnum TA/Mr. Wrestling II (looking back on video, this is a runner for best of the lot, but I went on my childhood memories and the others stood out too much to leave off), Krusher Darsow turns on USA and joinsNicolai Volkoff (another one that had the playgrounds buzzing and was really memorable), Mr. Olympia torments Mr. Wrestling II over several months, then turns on JYD (the masked men fascinated me because I was a superhero/comic book fanatic, and this was such a unique angle)
