Looking through an old thread at KM, after the KCOP Channel 13 show was cancelled, pro wrestling in English aired on KBSC Channel 52 in Los Angeles for many years in the second half of the 1970s. Can anyone tell more about the show, such as where it was taped, who the announcers were, the timeslot, and how long it aired? Thanks.

I wasn't living in LA until 1980, but the best I have pieced together is that it was taped at the Olympic and distributed in a package with an hour of roller derby*, the announcer was Dick Lane, the timeslot was late Saturday night and I have no idea when it finally ended.

Big help, I know.

* the stations buying the package had the option of Spanish or English

Later edit:  fwiw, channel 52 has been Spanish language only for as long as I have been here.

Are you sure it was Dick Lane? I thought he was out of the picture by then and that Jeff Walton and Gene LeBell had taken over, although I am not sure in either case.

The Los Angeles territory certainly took a step downwards when it lost the Channel 13 show, but it has been largely forgotten that they got back English TV, which may go to show how many people actually saw the program. Until recently, I thought that the only TV this promotion had from about 1975-76 onwards was the KMEX show that went out over the SIN network. That clearly was not the case.

Thunderbolt's information echoes what little I've heard, for the most part.

Tamalie, I believe you're right about Lane being gone but I believe that happened in mid 77.  I also believe the English broadcasts ceased in late 78.

In 1977 Channel 52 ran a Saturday block of Roller Games at 4:00 pm, Boxing from the Olympic at 5:00 pm, and Championship Wrestling at 6:00 pm.
