Where does he rank?

Mixed feelings here. I did like his work in the ring but almost part of me feels like he went from being under-rated to over-rated.

I have seen his stuff from World Class (it's okay) but I first remember seeing him in WCW. He was a pretty interesting guy there and did what he could I guess when "Norman The Lunatic" is who you are facing on a regular basis.

I am thinking between WCW and ECW was when he did alot of his"Death Match" stuff in Japan (I didn't follow him through that)

Thought he was great in ECW. Possibly his best work. In terms of both in-ring and on the mic.

I don't really like the "Mankind" gimmick although I did (from a comedy standpoint) really like the "Rock & Sock Connection"

He's a former WWF champion and some people would put him in a Hall Of Fame without second thought. I need to think about that one.

In the middle of this he became an author with "Have A Nice day" going bonkers and Mick hasn't put down the pen since.

I'm a Foley mark. I love pretty much everything Foley did until his involvement in the Four Way at WM 2000. Since then he's been spotty at best. In fact, the only things that come to mind in this decade are the Orton and Flair feuds, and only the Orton feud really delivered in the ring (although the Flair feud on the mic was awesome). First book was great, second was pretty good. Never read any of his others. I love his Cactus work in WCW as well as his anti-hardcore, Dreamer-mentoring run in ECW. I even (laughed at) liked his Dude Love Lounge or whatever it was called. Great matches with Taker, Austin, Vader, Orton, HHH, Funk, Mikey Whipwreck, I could go on.

As far as where he ranks? He was WWF's number four guy in the Attitude Era, behind Austin, Rock and Taker (HHH, Jericho, Kane and Angle all tie for the fifth spot). If you add in WCW guys like DDP, Hogan, Goldberg, etc, he's still in the top ten for the late 90s.

No doubter Hall of Famer. In terms of influence, notoriety, former champ. He has all the "requirements," or whatever passes for them in the gimmick HoF.

Honestly my favorite Foley period is 91-93, from his UWF stint thru WCW until the Amnesia angle.

I enjoyed his work in WWF but I didnt like that he became a comedy character.  Like the madman better.

Been watching him since WCCW.

One of the greats on the mic....his ani-ECW promos are great.

Best Fueds are Sting, Vader, Funk, Gilbert

I am a fan of his work... put his body on the line everynight.

But I agree with Ric Flair all he really was was a stuntman.

Whats he best know for? Taking crazy bumbs aka hell in cell, falling from the ring and smacking the back of his head, vader bomb on the floor.

But now all he really is a whore. Comes back when he has a book to plug, or a really big payday. ( which I wouldnt really mind but he said his retirement was not a Terry Funk retirement but he lied)

I really like his

program w/ Vader from WCW

Anti Hardcore stuff from ECW

match v Shawn Michaels @ Mind Games

& that is about it, I didn't care for his battles w/ the Undertaker or his Dude Love stuff.

I think Flair was right to an extent with his "glorified stuntman" quip. I feel Foley is overrated today very much but was indeed entertaining more often than he wasn't at least up till 2000 as was mentioned before.

Foley did have some memorable bouts with Vader, Shawn Michaels, Undertaker, Steve Austin, Terry Funk and Triple H in particular. I also liked his feud with Randy Orton. Thing is though I think all those performers are better all-around than Foley.

He's a better persona than a wrestler.

I'm a mark for Cactus Jack not Mick Foley. There's a difference. Mick Foley the man is a bullshitter, a con man.

I loved him as Cactus Jack. Mankind was funny at times but nowhere near as cool as Cactus Jack. I liked Dude Love. Dude's matches with Austin were tremendous brawls.

His comebacks from retirement have sucked for the most part. He's a HOF-er in my book because of his influence. It wasn't actually good influence as it inspired backyard wrestlers everywhere but influence never the less.

Track down the Cactus Jack vs Chris Candido match from Smoky Mountain if you get a chance. Good stuff. Candido was at his best in SMW too.

One more thing. Cactus Jack vs Sabu, the beer bottle match from ECW. What a spectacle. Track that one down too.

I think he's one of the top 5 mic-workers ever.  Also kept a tremendous amount of psychology into most of his out-of-control brawls: I loved how he'd incorporate typical wrestling spots into falls-count-anywhere matches, like the sunset flips and the Beach Blast match with Sting where they start doing rollup reversals on the floor.

Otherwise, his influence has been almost universally negative.

Mick Foley, when he's in the mood, is one of the best promo guys ever. The problem is that he's one of those guys who you can tell when he's not really feeling what he's supposed to be getting over. His mic work when unmotivated makes the most wooden Randy Orton promo seem like a Shakespearean monologue.   Whenever he gets "serious" and drops into the quivering Cactus Jack voice, there's been few better in wrestling history.  His ECW work is legendary.

Always thought Cactus Jack ruled. Hell, he even got a little something out of Van Hammer and I'm not sure anyone else ever accomplished that. It is pretty amazing. He nearly killed himself trying to get Hammer over in that falls count anywhere match at the Clash. He tore the concrete and ramp up a few times in that match.

Entertaining as hell and the anti hardcore stuff was fantastic. I liked the heel Mankind much more than the comedy Mankind and Dude Love was great, too. I didn't like either as much as Jack, though.

One of my favorite tapes is the Cactus Jack in ECW one released years ago.   Cactus Jack is great, I think it would of been better if Vince let Foley be regular old Cactus Jack from day one while in the  WWF.
