If you subscribe to the "older was better" theory - what things about it made it better?

Everybody had hairy chests and looked like your uncle.  Thus it reminded of the drunken family fistfights every Sunday back home.

Nostalgia for how excited you were to see wrestling in your youth.

They didn't need their theme song played when they did a run-in.

Racial angles were accepted.

Focus was on wrestling.

Jobbers.

The mystique - who is under the mask? Who is coming in next?

More mystique ~ really good wrestlers rarely lost on TV so when Dusty Rhodes and Billy Graham wrestled at the Arena you couldn't imagine either guy losing the match. If you didn't go you wondered like heck what had happened.

All the faces came out to Springsteen (in UWF, at least). No Fuel, Creed, Saliva or their ilk.

Bingo!

Every guy seemed like a legit contender cuz I never saw him lose.  AWA and TBS only featured squash matches.  The WWE did throw in a decent match up now and then, but TV was pretty much squashville.

Also, title changes, heel/face turns, PPVs, and speciality matches were few and far between so they were something special that we looked forward to.  Now we see this on a weekly basis and no one gives a flying fuck.  If we had the Super Bowl every 8 weeks it would lose it's appeal, once a year makes a huge event.

Not knowing everything.

Being naive enough to believe The Sheik and Bobo Brazil really wanted to kill each other.

Because most people over a certain age (what's that threshold, 30?) seem to like to anything that was part of their childhood better.

Not everyone had ripped up physiques with buzzcuts died blonde.

No obligatory diva's match on every show

No 3 ways and fatal 4 ways because the writers needed to get as many people on the show as possible

Title belts meant something

Localized interviews

Unscripted promos
