Danielson's a better heel than babyface. He can come across as a great natural prick. I don't agree at all with him playing too much to the crowd as a heel in ROH, he goes out of his way to NOT give them what they want like Cactus Jack in ECW. But he's usually a tweener, not a heel. When he wants to get heat, he does. As a babyface, he's way too vanilla, even in ROH.
He did the babyface singalong catchphrases in practically every match he had as heel champion. He was a much better heel before that run.
He's talented as hell and clearly has a great mind for wrestling (the CZW feud was booked by largely booked by him and Chris Hero), but he was a deeply flawed heel during his title reign with the singalong bullshit during his entrance, when he did the "I've got 'til FIVE!" schtick in the corner, etc.Last edited on Wed Jun 11th, 2008 09:59 pm by Bix

Jim Ross comments:
I watched ROH’s Bryan Danielson wrestle in Oakland and I told any one who would listen that the young man is a keeper. Great work ethic, unique skills, lots of character, and he wrestles like he is a "star" which is not something all wrestlers can do. I wished Bryan good luck as I left the arena in Oakland Monday and he went back to speaking with Shawn Michaels which can’t be a bad thing for Bryan. Not unlike the CAC the WWE might be well served to help subsidize the ROH as they seem to be one of the most viable entities when it comes to developing talent. Pat Patterson told me that the show the young kids had on Monday Night for the CAC was "excellent" and that there were several kids that the WWE should seriously look at sooner than late.

So I wonder if that's JR-ese for "WWE is already subsidizing ROH" which is something I've suspected at least since the Matt Hardy deal.

I don't think it's any secret that WWE and ROH are on very good terms and have been for years, although I doubt any money is exchanging hands. When Jamie Knoble was fired and the ROH-TNA sniping was just starting, WWE explicitly told Knoble to go to ROH and their sister promotion FIP (in Florida just like TNA, where Knoble lives) and he'd be brought back to WWE after everything blew over. He was also told in no uncertain terms that if he chose TNA instead, he wouldn't be coming back.
And let's not forget that CM Punk was allowed back in ROH for one night only when ROH talent was all unable to make a show due to a snowstorm. Punk was in OVW at the time and was in the area and was allowed to bail them out to give a surprise to the fans who had paid for their tickets but wouldn't be seeing half of the advertised stars. But I also remember Punk getting heat for that even though he had permission to return, so that was a case of the right hand not knowing what the left hand was doing.
ROH is training these guys the right way and WWE would be silly not to recognize that at a time when their own developmental system is a mess and they can't just buy experienced guys from ECW and WCW anymore. They need ROH just as much as ROH stands to benefit from not being at war with WWE.
