I know he is the darling of the IWC and he is a legit HOF'er but just now on the O&A show he called the Fandango dancing fad by the fans post-wrestle mania as the pet rock of professional wrestling. Seemed pissed he had to put him over at Mania too.

Way to put over the young talent Chris!

Jericho has done more in the past 5 years for putting over young Talent than anyone has.

He is right on about the Dance fad.  So I dont know how that makes him a dick

Probably best to hear the interview but would it kill him to put the guy over since he is not working there and none of this is angle stuff? Overall just disrespectful imo

WHen you are on a national radio show and not working for the promotion, would it have killed him to say that the guy was a tremendous talent and had a great future bla bla bla rather than say his dancing fad was the pet rock of professional wrestling?

The thing is I don't disagree but it just irks me to see him talk about talent in a disparaging manner when he is not working for the company and it is clearly not an angle.

I'll try and post a transcript if I can as it was only a few sentences.  I think if you hear/read it, it makes a big difference.

So, it irks you that he has an opinion about a situation he was put in?

Maybe Jericho doesn't think Fandango is a tremendous talent with a great future.

Hmmm... Let's see, you are Chris Jericho... One of the biggest stars of the past 15 years..

You've put over talent that can go somewhere like CM Punk, Dolph Ziggler, etc., and so forth in the past two-three years in outstanding matches.

They bring you back with much hoopla at Royal Rumble.

Then, they put you in the ring with a ballroom dancing gimmick that isn't over pre-WrestleMania and job you out in a forgettable match.

Don't blame the guy. It wasn't the right call for that match and to further prove Fandango wasn't ready for that push, look at what he's done since Mania...

I love when internet fans get their panties in a bunch over something like this. Based upon one statement of opinion, you are going to go as far as to say someone is a dick? Not based upon any action he's committed. You're taking this rassling thing way too serious if you're this worked over about Fandango of all people.

Also that Jericho apparently has little problem with putting the Shield, Ryback, and Curtis Axel over this year since their careers can actually go somewhere and the win over Y2J helped to elevate them.

Here's the quote:

"I had to construct a whole way of building this match over 4 weeks to make people give a shit about it and I think we did a good job of that because the next night after WrestleMania that guy was like the most popular guy in the business because they're all doing his stupid dance.  He had this awful theme song that sounded like "I Dream of Jeannie" and it was like a Top 30 hit in England on iTunes and I guarantee a week and a half after, two weeks later everyone is looking at their iPhones and wondering why the fuck did I buy that.  "Can I erase this please?"  So people would do this and sing along with it and about a month and a half later the whole thing was like the pet rock of wrestling, it was a huge fad and it just died right afterwards to where now the guy had to start over from scratch and try to build his way back up again.  But for a while, he was a "contenda" (in a joking manner).

Opie comments that the heat was strong on Fandango...

Jericho:

"Well that too was because he was working with me and we put together some stuff where he was kicking the shit out of me and it built good.    So that's what you gotta do sometimes you get the task that you're really not all that keen on and you gotta make it work."

So, he's right on point 1 and point 2.

And he's a dick how again?

The only thing he's wrong about is that the night after WM they were doing the dance because of how Jericho built the match.  They were mockingly doing it because it was so bad and because the crowd was being snarky.  The whole thing was a goof that WWE tried to make seem like he was over, and then crowds in places like Kansas started doing it because people from those places don't know any better.

But Jericho is spot on (and pretty funny) about all the people who were wondering why that song was on their iPods after 2 weeks.

Yeah, I don't see how that makes him a dick at all.

None of what he said was inaccurate.  What is Fandango doing now?..........Exactly.

Just my opinion and maybe I'm too Corporate America on this but he should be putting over the guys working there every day instead of taking shots at them.  That's all.

Just think it was a dick move - we know he is 100% right but why not try to promote these guys in the public eye instead of trying to take them down a notch perhaps because he didn't want to job for him in the first place.

I'd agree with you if the guy was even remotely over or even being used, but he's neither and is hardly on TV now.

I don't think he would've or ever did have a problem with doing the job.  His issue was the gimmick and the idea of why they were feuding to begin with and how it meant nothing in the long run for him to do the job.

IMO, he's not necessarily putting down the performer, but actually the gimmick.

We have to remember that Jericho, atleast OOC, is trying to get over as a Metalhead, and doing stuff like this and, "Dancing with the Stars" doesn't give him much cred in that field.

I'm for thinking that this is damage control.
