ESPN is working on a 30 for 30 piece on the Von Erich family. The plan is for the piece to air sometime in January 2014. Kevin Von Erich will be interviewed for the piece and they will be traveling to Hawaii to film him at his home.

They do a very good job on these but I saw a Von Erich doc on Netflix that I thought was very good as well. Not sure what new they can bring to the table on this topic.

First thing I thought as well when I read this. Like ECW, it's been covered to...wait for it...death.

I wanna know if they've interviewed Ports on the often-ignored tampon-related aspects of their deaths.

Of if rumors of Kerry having a closet full of fake feet were actually true.

Because we're wrestling fans. There's been a few articles here and there in mainstream publications, but most people don't know anything other than they're a wrestling family who all wound up dead. It'll be new to them.

No I totally agree about that, just to a smarky like me it just doesn't excite me. Now if this was prior to 1998, I'd be all over this and setting my vcr to record this 2 months in advance. I'd be marking out so bad that my cat might even have to take a suplex on the living room floor. ;)

Shouldn't you be giving your cat the claw hold if it's in honor of the von Erichs?

It'll be a lot of rehash, but the first that many sports fans have heard of the family and its plight in wrestling.

Anyone else surprised that ESPN would be doing something like this?

They did a piece about DDP saving Hall and Jake, so someone there seems to be aware of human interest stories in wrestling.

Not really.. Some of the E:60 and 30 for 30 subjects are regional stories (Bernie and Ernie Show) or forgotten happenings in sports.
