AWA 12/25/1986 – AWA Brawl in St. Paul [Duration: 01:42:24]
It’s a St. Paul Steel Cage Showdown when Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty look to grab AWA tag team gold on Christmas Night 1986.

AWA is the most prominent promotion for these 12 Days of Hidden Gems, which excites many due to the lack of AWA content currently available within the archives. Those looking forward to more content from the classic promotion are in luck as this 1986 show clocks in at over an hour and forty minutes in length and is headlined by a young Shawn Michaels teaming with Marty Jannetty to battle Buddy Rose and Doug Somers in a steel cage match.

Of course, of the seven matches reported to have taken place that night it’s not currently known how much will be included in this release, but at the length it has it’s likely the majority of the contests will be made available. It’ll also be interesting to see if another Buck Zumhofe match is cut, as it could be a sign that some of his matches are being avoided due to the controversy and legal trouble surrounding the former AWA star. Despite that, he is seen across numerous WWE Network programs.

Below is a list of matches that took place that night, though it’s not confirmed which will be featured:

Buddy Wolfe vs. Buck Zumhofe.
Earthquake Ferris vs. Brian Knobbs.
Boris Zhukov vs. Steve O.
Leon White, Greg Gagne, and Scott Hall vs. Mr. Saito, The Super Ninja, and Larry Zbyszko.
Nick Bockwinkel vs. Curt Hennig.
Jimmy Snuka vs. Col. DeBeers.
Steel Cage: The Midnight Rockers vs. Buddy Rose and Doug Somers.

The only Match not aired is Buddy Wolfe vs Zumhofe

I think you are right and if I remember correctly, there was some weird video glitch associated with it.  Perhaps the glitch was due to WWE 24/7 at the time or perhaps it was the source tape.  I guess we'll see.

It is the Source Tape...the Glitch is there on the network.

I know late ‘87 AWA is not everyone’s cup of tea, but I can’t wait to see this show.

ECW ran just three more cards after that ECW Arena show, the January 7, 2001 Guilty As Charged PPV from Hammerstein Ballroom in New York followed by a pair of sold shows in the Ozarks Poplar Bluff, MO and Pine Bluff, AR. The last of those threes featured Tommy Dreamer doing a speech and the ECW crew having a mid-ring beer bash. There were no more cards booked after that and although some ECW wrestlers naively hoped Paul Heyman would somehow save the day, for the most part they knew it was over.

I just don't understand AWA booking. The Christmas shows were big shows.

1986 They have Rockers vs Rose and Somers in a Cage..Why is it a non title match? Then Rockers win the titles one month later. Why not on the Big show

1987 Rockers vs Midnight Express. Rockers win the titles 2 nights later at TV, Why not at the Big Show.

In 1987 a Vegas TV title switch would have been bigger than a switch in Minny, IMO. Plus I am thinking someone from OMX (or the whole bunch) were going to leave so they did the switch when that was found out, as opposed to a longer program.

Cage matches in the AWA, until the last year or so, were always non title. This held true to that.

several new WWE series were added to the VOD area of the WWE Network in advance of their debut on the channel's linear stream. The new series are:

Fashion Files: Cold Case Unit: - "It's do-or-pie for detectives Tyler Breeze and Fandango, as 'The Fashion Police' close in on Kevin Owens' mysterious Pie Face Perpetrator!"

Xavier's Arcade Challenge: "Xavier Woods invades the arcade scene in The City of Brotherly Love, and he's seeking a challenge in the retro gaming classic, NBA Jam!"

WWE Kitchen Smackdown: "Dana Brooke, Alicia Fox and Curtis Axel compete in a cookoff for guest judges Enes Kanter, Noelle Foley and Mark Henry, hosted by Bo Dallas."

Botch Club: "Gallows and Anderson watch acrobatic attempts gone awry, and take a deep dive into the circumstances behind the infamous Titus Worldslide."

Any word on upcoming classic content? If they won't add new categories until the current ones are filled, is there any chance of that happening before Christmas 2019?

There is something coning in January, with 30 hours prepared so far. The reports I have read at vague, but I have an inkling it will be late 80s JCP of some variety.

30 hours might be the remainder of WCW Saturday Night 1989.

Or possibly the remainder of 1985 NWA WCW

The Whole Card is there however WWEnetworknews.com got a match wrong. It is not Jake Roberts vs Paul Ellering it is Buddy Jack Roberts vs Paul Ellering.
