That first nine months of Wrestling Challenge (and Superstars of Wrestling for that matter) were just spectacular. Great lighting, big arenas, "name" main events on every show, just seemed like such an awesome transition from the old Poughkeepsie and Brantford, Ontario tapings, along with tons of new talent coming in. My favorite thing about that period was that the roster was so jammed that they had to throw "name" guys into tag and 6-man matches just to get them on the shows. Like, Hercules would tag up with a jobber to face the Islanders. Even Koko's debut was on the losing side against, I think, the Hart Foundation. Dick Slater would team with AJ Petruzzi to face the Bulldogs. That's how loaded the roster was. Great time period, and of course that doesn't even account for the angles and matches going on at the time (Orndorff was ultra hot just after the heel turn, Steamboat/Savage starting up, Bulldogs plowing through everyone, Piper's Pit coming back against the Flower Shop, etc.) Can't wait for these, needless to say! I'm 2 episodes in to Wrestling Challenge in 1986. At the end of episode 2, Monsoon says the Islanders will be here next week, and he called them "Tonga and Tonga Kid." They had to drop the King Tonga name because they just showed Harley's coronation. At the beginning of episode 3, they call the Islanders "Haku and Toma." Also, Ernie Ladd says "shadow of a doubt" about 12 times in the first two episodes. I really like these, best content drop in ages. Last edited on Mon Jan 18th, 2021 11:24 pm by Boz1515 |

WWE Network's description for the second episode is wrong, it has Tito Santana listed in the 6-man tag. Tito is not on the show, it's Jim Powers.

Quick general question for anyone with the Network: has anyone experienced the audio track not syncing up with the video in the past? Like being a split second to a half second off? I am looking at some old threads on Reddit and other places, and it looks like this was an issue for awhile. I’ve noticed it on some shows I’ve seen recently, but I’m wondering why they didn’t fix it.

The first time I go into the app it works fine, but if I back out and go back in, the WWE logo just flashes forever and the menu never comes up. I basically have to turn everything off for an hour and then it’ll come on again. Very annoying.

Just watched the first episode of Icons on WWE Network. A very good hour and 20 minute documentary. Good to see someone different finally highlighted a bit. Some nice attention to detail including a clip of his mast ever interview on a British talk show the week he died. Includes new interviews with Vince, Bret, Hogan, Undertaker, Rikishi, Prichard, and more. Bret hilariously shits on Hogan again, and even Prichard says in retrospect it wasn’t the best idea to have Hogan beat Yoko, so expect Hogan to tweet something any second now after watching this. There’s also a 40-minute “post-show” that was uploaded that I haven’t seen yet. Last edited on Sun Jan 31st, 2021 07:24 pm by srossi ____________________ This thread was great before AA ruined it. |

ICW in Scotland issued the following: EVERY MATCH TO BE LOCKED INSIDE A STEEL CAGE AT ICW FIGHT CLUB: BARRED GLASGOW, Scot., 20 February, 2021 - For the first-time ever, every match will be locked inside a steel cage at ICW Fight Club: Barred, an ICW special, on Saturday, 20 March on WWE Network. ICW Fight Club: Barred will see scores settled, bad blood boil over and careers changed forever. “There’s never been a time when more people were watching ICW on a weekly basis.” said ICW owner Mark Dallas, who made the shock announcement to begin the latest episode of ICW Fight Club. “We’re going to surround the ring with a steel cage for the entire night and let people settle their scores ICW-style.” The announcement follows the conclusion of the inaugural Lionheart League, won by former ICW Tag Team Champion and current NXT UK Superstar Sha Samuels, after defeating Stevie Boy in the final. “A guy like Kez Evans doesn’t deserve an ICW Title opportunity.” said Craig Anthony, who challenges Evans for the Square Go briefcase - the first match to be confirmed for the Fight Club special. “Kez doesn’t know what I’m willing to do inside that cage.” Watch ICW Fight Club: Barred on Saturday, 20 March and ICW action every Saturday at 12 pm ET/5 pm GMT on WWE Network.

So, are Peacock going to be showing indie wrestling cards live by virtue of buying the WWE Network? I can't help but think that isn't going to end well. Same with some of the questionable content from WWE's past. It's not like NBC executives have ever watched Raw.

On a music message board I visit, on the visual arts section I wondered about the old stuff on the network. Someone replied thinking that it'll still be available, because it's only in the US that the network's migrating to Peacock. I'm not planning on it, I'm currently canceled but will subscribe again if the old stuff is on Peacock after all. Last edited on Sun Feb 21st, 2021 05:54 am by sportatorium roach |
