Kriss wrote: So, "House Hardy Halloween" premiered last night. It's pretty much what I expected. The lunacy seems to have been turned down, and the cameos aren't as out of left field as they were in TNA (they are firmly from the WWE friends list). It's also very much lacking in wrestling. It's better than Camp WWE or Holy Foley, but not as much fun as the Edge & Christian show. If you Hardy's Broken universe in TNA, then this is an okay way to spend half an hour, but it won't win anyone over. They did set it up for another episode though, and I will watch the next one.
I thought it was the best Broken Universe segment so far in WWE, by far.  I feel like the Hardys were much more involved in writing it as some of the references were so obscure that no WWE writer would've come up with it.  I can do without any more of The Boogeyman, but The Godfather going into the Lake of Reincarnation and becoming Papa Shango was pretty cool.  Hurricane Helms is local to NC and has been friends with the Hardys forever, so it's nice to see him get a payday for something.  I recognized a few Carolina indy talents who the Hardys clearly booked.  Skarsgard the Dilapidated Boat, Vanguard One, George Washington the giraffe, and Smoking Joe Frazier the boxing kangaroo were all featured prominently, so it gave fans from the Impact days plenty to enjoy.  It was fun and campy and they set up a sequel, but they just can't overdo this as it's best served in small doses.

We are told the House: Hardy Halloween special was almost exclusively the creative vision of Matt Hardy and Jeremy Borash. Jimmy Paradyse, who was involved in the production of the Broken Universe material and is now working for WWE, was also one of the producers of the special. If the numbers do well on the WWE Network, the plan is to do more as this was designed to be a pilot episode for a larger Broken Universe series (as the ending of the special pretty much suggests). As I wrote earlier, the special is absolutely worth going out of your way to see.

Rebecca Hardy was very involved behind the scenes on pretty much every aspect of the special. On Twitter she noted:

Reby Hardy

@RebyHardy
Thanks for the feedback on #HouseHardy #HouseHardyHalloween. I worked like mad on music, video in tonight’s piece, promos leading up to it, transforming a barren building into a Halloween party in 3 days, etc etc etc. Glad it’s over, but I’m even more glad it happened at all.

What was especially insane is that the Hardy home and property had flooded the week before the shoot due to the effects of Hurricane Florence, causing the family home to sustain major damage, so it's amazing they were even able to get things together in time for the filming.

The WWE Network added the following DX matches, which have never been televised before, in The "Hidden Gems" section of The Vault:

DEGENERATES OF NEW YORK - NOVEMBER 15, 1997

The Undertaker and Stone Cold Steve Austin face Shawn Michaels and Triple H in tag team action from Madison Square Garden.

STEEL CAGE SHOWDOWN - SEPTEMBER 04, 2009

The cameras kept rolling after SmackDown went off the air to witness Shawn Michaels and Triple H battle Legacy inside a steel cage.

Additional episodes of WWE Main Event from 2013 have been added to the streaming service this morning as well.

They’re trying to get rid of the shows that have been in the can for months so they can catch up to to the new set of tapings.

WWE Network News is reporting that tomorrow's "Hidden Gem" selection on the WWE Network will be what is being termed as "unaired home video pilot" of the AWA Team Challenge Series.

The video is dated 10/23/89 and titled AWA Team Challenge Series.

In 1989, the AWA launched the Series, based around the idea of the company's roster forming three different teams, captained by Sgt. Slaughter, Larry Zbyszko and Baron Von Rashke. In the midst of the Series, Slaughter left the company to return to the WWF for his heel run as WWF Champion, with Col. DeBeers replacing Slaughter.

This is the best thing that has been added to the Network. 10/10 Must watch.

Jerry Lynn as a jobber!

Pretty sure Lynn made TV as a jobber too.  Local MN kid in his rookie year, so it's the logical thing for him to do.

When the AWA launched the Team Challenge Series, it was stated in some places that it would include a PPV and more than one home video only release. Apart from this apparent video pilot, nothing came of these claims. The TCS had no chance of succeeding given the state of the AWA and its faltering talent pool. However, it was not helped at all by such things as an incomprehensible scoring system, an undefined goal (the $1,000,000 prize was not mentioned when it was launched if memory serves correct), no defined ending (it suddenly got wrapped up at a taping after previously seeming like it would indefinitely, in a sports league you always know when the playoffs will happen), and fluctuating rosters caused by guys coming and going or working a single TV taping and not returning.

Didn't get to that part.

The Entrances looks like something you see in 80's or early 90's videos games.

Not the best pre PPV countdown special, but things like this if added for all years and events are something I would love to see. Some of these specials are available on YouTube in varying quality, and it will be interesting to see if they add any other years down the line.
