I loved those pre ppv lead up specials. I recorded a few over the years and watched the shit out of them along with the handful of CHV’s I bought from the CHV catalogue back in the early 90’s.

The A.J. Styles 365 documentary that premiered after SS is worth checking out. Lots of talk about TNA and NJPW. They go back to the TNA soundstage in Orlando with Jeremy Borash. A.J., Gallows, and Anderson also eat at Ribera Steakhouse and walk around the Tokyo Dome/Korakuen Hall area.

WWE Network News is reporting the following Mid-Atlantic house show matches from Charlotte, North Carolina, leading into the first Starrcade in 1983, will be tomorrow's Hidden Gems selection on WWE Network:

MACW Event 07/09/1983 – Battling The Brisco Brothers

Ricky Steamboat and Jay Youngblood look to dethrone The Brisco Brothers in their quest for tag team gold on the road to Starrcade.

MACW Event 07/09/1983 – The Race to Starrcade

Ric Flair looks to reclaim championship gold when he battles World Heavyweight Champion Harley Race on the road to Starrcade.

Wished they just show the whole event if the whole thing was filmed.

JCP @ Charlotte, NC - Coliseum - July 9, 1983
Keith Larsen & Rick McCord defeated Gene Anderson & Bill Howard

Assassin #1 defeated John Bonello

Jake Roberts defeated Mike Davis

Dick Slater defeated Jos LeDuc

NWA US Champion Greg Valentine defeated Roddy Piper via disqualification in a non-title match at 13:41 when Piper brought a rope into the ring and began choking and hanging a bloody Valentine with it; eventually, the ring filled with other wrestlers who pulled Piper away and Valentine was pulled to safety

NWA Tag Team Champions Jack & Jerry Brisco defeated Ricky Steamboat & Jay Youngblood

Ric Flair defeated NWA World Champion Harley Race via disqualification

The Piper vs Valentine match was already put on the Hidden Gems a few weeks back.

They should to put the whole event up.

The Edge & Christian show returned last night. I wish it hadn't. It was bad. Only the last 20 seconds are even slightly funny.

I thought it was OK.  The segment "Will WWE Talk About It?", only with leftover topics from 2016 listing all guys that are now in NXT (Ricochet, Adam Cole, etc.), was cute if not laugh-out-loud funny.  The Edge/Cena sitcom, pretty much the same.  The Vince stuff was really bad though.

This was one of the matches uploaded by NWA Classics on Demand when they had the Houston footage.

I'm assuming there must be quite a bit of overlap in footage between what WWE has and what Valerie Boesch has since Houston was basically an extension of Mid-South from the early 80s on.

Before the move to taping Power Pro Wrestling as a B show in Fort Worth with original matches and angles in the latter part of 1986, it was a highlights show with Jim Ross hosting from a studio and introducing matches, angles, interviews, music videos, and so forth from various sources. Some stuff from the A show was rerun, but they'd also use house show footage and Houston footage. There is definitely some stuff that went to the WWE in the Watts library that crosses over to the Boesch library.

Speaking of the Boesch library, is that stuff no longer part of the NWA Classics On Demand service? What became of the footage?

I think the service was cancelled after Billy Corgan effectively took control of the NWA. However, he still has the licensing rights to the library and footage has been used in the Ten Pounds of Gold series he and Dave Lagana produce on YouTube.
