WWE has announced the 12 Days of Hidden Gems, with a new "Hidden Gem" being added to that section of the WWE Network's VOD area every day through Christmas.

Think of it as the WWE Network's version of an advent calendar if it helps. :)

Today's entry on WWE's "the 12 days before Xmas" list is WCCW Xmas Star Wars from 1981. There are three matches from the card not included. Were these shows edited for TV?

Maybe the tape didn't survive intact and that's all they got. I think that one has aired before.

1st day of Hidden gems

WWE has uploaded a one hour and 10-minute version of World-Class Championship Wrestling Christmas Star Wars 1981 from Dallas, Texas' Reunion Arena.

The WWE Network presentation features:

*NWA Texas Brass Knuckles Champion Ernie Ladd vs. Jose Lothario vs. Ernie Ladd.

*UWA World Junior Light Heavyweight Champion El Solitario vs. Killer Tim Brooks.

*Texas Death Match: The Great Kabuki vs. Fritz Von Erich.

*Kerry & Kevin & David Von Erich vs. Frank Dusek & Bill Irwin & Ten Gu.

*Two Ring Battle Royal

Missing from the original event are three matches, El Negro Assassino vs. Richard Blood (which went to a draw), Tiny Tom defeating Little Tokyo and a tag team bout featuring Blue Demon and Al Madril defeating Arman Hussein and Carlos Zapata. Most of the competitors appear in the two-ring battle royal.

The WWE Network presentation features Bill Mercer's original commentary from that evening.

I have this event and don't know why - was it originally uploaded to WWE 24/7?

It was, in December 2011. The WWE Network added the 2/22/81 Star Wars a few months ago.

The 1981 "Wrestling Star Wars" has the mysterious "Ten Gu". In this particular instance, nobody's really sure who played him.

The future "Kendo Nagasaki", Kazuo Sakrada, is sometimes listed as playing Ten Gu, but I kinda' doubt that it's him in this event. Anybody know for sure?

Looked like a Original Midnight express title defense against the Rockers from Minneapolis christmas night, and the 12/29/85 Pro Wrestling USA show which has never made video save for portions of the Rick martel title loss to Stan hansen.
If thats the case, those are pretty excellent gems.

According to WWEnetworknews.com

there’s SIX “full” shows (of an hour’s length or more) incoming on the Hidden Gems

They say old school fans will love them
