What the hell was going on in the WWWF in 1975?
Rivera decides to bolt the WWWF while being one half of the team champions?   I have heard that he was offered money from another promotion and Vince Sr. let him walk.
Rivera was replaced by Barrett but was Rivera still around after Denucci and Barrett lost the title?
The Blackjacks - Was it rushed for them to drop the titles due to counterfeiting charges pending against Windham?  Was there really some concern from Vince Sr. that Mulligan and Lanza would not drop the belts to Parisi and Cerdan?
Victor returned to the WWF around 1979, but it seems like this guy has completely dropped of the planet.  Rumors of living on Skid Row as a homeless drug addict, being incarcerated and even his death have been rumors circulating for years.

Mulligan's counterfitting charges came up around 1989. He was promised a juicy spot as top heel for JCP because of the Flair plane crash, and would be eased into the number 2 role once Flair returned, according to a Blackjack interview with Mid Atlantic Gateway. He also said to make sure he was in position to leave that he held DeNucci on top of him to get pinned. That story I choose not to believe but it makes for an entertaining tale. http://www.midatlanticwrestling.net/resourcecenter/interviews/mulligan/blackjack03.htm

Okay, I knew there something about the counterfeiting charges. Just 14 years too early. LOL

I thought there was a controversy behind the scenes about The Blackja ks dropping the belts.

My hunch is they weren't as likely to mix 'real life' with the storylines back then and the timelines don't match (heel run, counterfeiting episode) but a heel getting arrested for counterfeiting would have been interesting.

Rivera left the WWWF in August 1975 to go to the IWA. he left the IWA in October 1975. There don't appear to be any results of his until he returned to the WWWF as a babyface in August 1976, he left the WWWF in December 1976. Here's more information: http://wrestlingdata.com/index.php?befehl=bios&wrestler=2231&bild=1&details=7

That was a very short gig with the IWA. Wonder if something occurred?

WRONG.

He left the IWA and fell under the tutelage of Fred Blassie. After 3 years of refining his skills and a successful tour of the orient, he re-entered the World Wide Wrestling Federation and attempted to wrest the crown from Bob Backlund.

I thought the IWA went through 1976. I did not think it sunk tha fast in 1975.

Nice explanation, beej!

The IWA as a national organization with nationally syndicated TV and a stable of well paid wrestlers came and went in 1975. It wasn't profitable, so Eddie Einhorn walked away so as to not jeopardize his main venture TVS a national syndicator of sports with college basketball being its crown jewel, but also running college football bowl games, PGA golf, tennis, auto racing, and other sports. After this, Johnny Powers took what remained of the promotion and continued to operate as a competitor to JCP in the Carolinas, based in Winston-Salem, NC. The IWA finally faded away in 1977 although the tapes from 1975 were sent worldwide with the wrestlers touring off of them as late as the mid 1980s.

Here is a newspaper article from the Ocala (FL) Star-Banner on May 17, 1990, mentioning the sentences Blackjack Mulligan and Kendall Windham received due to their counterfeiting activities.
