However, he was in there with the very elite of his day every single night at a time when there were TONS of shooters and hookers wrestling full time. There are quite a few tapes of Rogers out there from the 50's and he chain wrestles wonderfully. Plus there's the story which made national headlines in the early 90's where a 70 something Buddy stops in at his favorite diner for breakfast and some well built guy in his 30's starts harassing Buddy's favorite waitress. Rogers sprung into action and KO'ed the guy cold right on the diner floor.Rogers was ex police when the only criteria to be a cop was whether you can kick the shit out of people.
My addition is that Bruiser Brody was the Kevin Nash of his time in America. No other guy took so much but gave so little back to the promoter. Brody knew he couldn't draw long term so he would  limit his bookings to mostly  second rate or dying territories. Through his relationship with Meltzer he was able to maintain the narrative that it was always some booker or pro8moters fault when he had to walk out on them. Then also the only reason none of the big offices wanted him was that they couldn't afford him. The statement though on its face true but dubious because he knew Crockett, Gagne or vince wouldn't match the Japanese pay because they knew he couldn't generate the business to justify it.

"Brody knew he couldn't draw long term so he would  limit his bookings to mostly  second rate or dying territories"
Oh, so you knew what Brody's thoughts were do you MrWaukegan? You KNEW that Brody knew did you now......yeah, right, ok there bud.And Kargol is just up and up trolling about Brody.......The only thing I'll say to you is....NASCAR BLOWS Formula1 away when it comes to exciting racing. When the race's only exciting moment lately in about 80% of the races is between when the red lights go out to the first corner during lap 1....well.....Oh and that only applies during the times when they don't start the first 10 laps of the races behind the virtual safety car, which negates any excitement altogether.
So just stop with the bullshit "Never seen anything worthy from Brody in the ring"....Just piss poor trolling......I'd like to have seen what Brody would have done with Big Daddy if he ever got him in the ring.....Kargol has a terrible case of Crabtreeitis on the brain....Oh btw Kazuo Sakurada did Kendo Nagasaki so much better than that dwarfitis nosed hack you had over in 'Ol Limeytown.......Your Eurotrash is rubbing off on MrWaukegan too btw.
Frank Bruiser Brody was a Jezus Christ like messiah to pro rass from about '76 till the night he died in '88.
I mean stop it....just stop it....stop the trolling.
Oh my.

Brody's shit. I didn't get to see him until after his death and then I was stunned at what a piece of shit he was in the ring. I don't think I've ever seen him show ass. I love how when he's in a tag match and the babyface is making the big comeback, he just stumbles around the ring a little bit and then tags the fuck out so he can stand on the apron as if nothing ever happened.

I have to admit I am not a big Brody fan either. And someone made a good point. Brody's routine and how he worked matches meant he could not stay in one territory long. like Abdullah The Butcher. same deal. Brody could work when he wanted to like when he faced Flair but normally....And on top of that I don't like the stories u hear about him being a bully and how selfish he was and difficult to work with he could be. And credible, well respected people have said it. But to tons of wrestling fans he well loved.

Crabtreeitis? LOL. Big Daddy was utter shit in the ring - at least once he turned face; he was serviceable as a heel. But he had off-the-charts charisma.

I was in the first wave of Brody backlashers circa 2001-02. However, I think the tide has turned against him now to an extent that he's a bit underrated.

I think Brody has some decent stuff here and there but I've never been overly excited about him.

Ive never cared for any hashimoto match, I know he was big time in NJPW but I've never found him watchable.

Cena is not as bad as many make him out to be and the WWE universe really does suck. The whole time he was US champ last year he worked his ass off and the WWE universe still boos him.

Agreed on a lot of this.  Once da Universe turns on the spigot of hate, there is no turning it off for some of these guys, no matter what they do.

I think many actually did start respecting him after those U.S. Open matches.  The boos aren't nearly as bad anymore and the ones he gets are more playful.  They've reserved the real hate for Reigns.

I will say this about Cena though, the dude seriously rubs me the wrong way.  He could bring peace to the Middle East while curing cancer and I'd still be like, "What a phony, brown-nosing motherfucker."  I used to think his promos were phony until I saw him do a million different things, and no, the sad thing is, that's really him.  How he talks when delivering the least realistic promo you've ever heard is how he talks when flirting with his girlfriend, promoting a movie, or visiting sick kids in the hospital.  I feel like when the cameras are off he must furiously masturbate while strangling puppies.

Most wrestling in the 1980s outside the WWF looked like it had all the prestige of a cigarette break.

agreed I even said it on tape in the NWA Title documentary
I never liked wrestling being presented as really wrestling.  I liked the comedy, the brawling and high spots.  I'd rather watch reruns of the Doris Day show than a Dory Funk Jr vs Jack Brisco Match.  Give me The Sheik vs Bobo Brazil or Kevin Sullivan vs Dusty Rhodes any day
