So this is happening.

World of Sport was a very important thing on England. If you ask some guy on the street to name one wrestler he probably won`t even know what "WWE" means, but he will certainly have heard of the WOS TV show and stars such as Jackie Pallo (skinny comical technician), Big Daddy (fat guy, over) or Kendo Nagasaki (think of Kato but good). ITV is preparing a return of this and...

Maybe at one time. A lot more people would know who John Cena is compared to Jackie Pollo. ITV are pretending that they are reviving some beloved TV show, but this will need to stand on its own merits. Most of their initial audience will be WWE fans, not old WOS fans. Anyone who didn't migrate to the WWF when WOS stopped airing hasn't been sitting around waiting for wrestling to come back onto free TV in the UK, they've long since moved on. British wrestling didn't due because ITV stopped showing it. ITV stopped showing it because it was dead.

People on the streets that do stuff such as plumbing and bushwacking know John Cena even if they have no idea how a wrestling match goes. But for sure the won`t know what a CWC, NXT or WWE Network thing is. Another 23632323526367235 guys on a roster that`s as packed as 1999 WCW isn`t going to help them.

Most of its initial audience will be casual fans that don`t watch wrestling and will either say "this is fake shit" or, "WOO look at this". Remember this is a public channel that around 450 billion people watch.
The tone so far seems to be a la par with european indy wrestling, completely different from what the old WOS was all about. I have absolutely no idea on how people that aren`t fans are going to react.
