Especially just an hour after Mathews ripped the fans for getting in for free as part of his obnoxious bragging that he once called a WrestleMania.

I think this episode might have finally driven me away from TNA for good.  I might give it one more week, but I'm just about done.  Impact the last few months has been largely ho-hum, but with some good matches and nothing near the disaster that we saw last night.  If this is the last gasp direction they're attempting, it's really over.

Lot of posts I read on FB. People loved the show and it had a old school feel to it.

Old school?!  None of your FB friends must be able to remember before 1999.  The WWE UK Tournament had an old school feel.  This was nothing like that.

Just telling you what some people said in the wrestling groups on FB.

Some said Impact was better than Raw and Smackdown this week.

A lot of people are nostalgic about WCW Thunder. It seems to be the most wanted content on the WWE Network now that Raw and Smackdown are done.

I can see it.  Thunder wasn't a bad show for the simple reason that no one at WCW cared about it.  So you had this enormous roster and no real angles or nonsense on the show.  None of the stars showed up and even the bookers didn't want to be there.  So they booked Lance Storm vs. Chris Kanyon and Jamie Knoble vs. Super Calo for 25 minutes each or something like that, and they had great matches.

The only think I'm more nostalgic for is WCW Saturday Night, where Jimmy Hart would throw one big indy/international/territory party every week with no oversight whatsoever.  Ever wonder what would happen if Chris Adams tried his hand at Lucha?  Well fuck, let's find out by booking him against Psicosis!  And then let's book PG-13 from USWA against ECWA's Devon Storm and Lance Darling.  Why?  Because we can , motherfuckers!  Yuji Nagata's in the country this week?  Let's see what would happen if he faced...the Cuban Assassin!  It was so much better than the worked Lethal Lottery draws.

The Twitterverse seems to be generally positive about the show. I guess people shouting at each other makes for good television these days. If they made Impact a reality show about making a wrestling show, they might have something.

Two takes from this show, which wasn't bad but the announcer fight dragged down. By the way, this crap is the overarching angle of the taping so enjoy the next few episodes.

What is with these companies these days and their need to tell people that the show sucks? This happens all the time with Impact, and isn't new ton this show. This isn't even unique to them. Remember last year when Shane came back to WWE to talk about how the show sucks and the ratings have tanked? Not even the worst horseshit promotion of yesteryear, not even the one with Jumping Jeff Farmer would have ever done this. It really shows how it's an audience of hardcores and almost no one else.

We will see when the viewership comes in, but are there really that many people who were going to tune into this because they listen to Bruce Prichard's podcast? He has 2 episodes on TNA and the rest is all nostalgia about his days with WWE. It's not like they were going to do the podcast on the show, so what exactly is the draw? Also if they're mad at Josh Matthews and want to get rid of him, this is an awfully bizarre way to do it. Just let him go and be done with it. I won't spoil what happens.

Does Mathews really have heat?  I guess I've heard enough about it that it must be true to some degree.  Dating back to the Taz years, I heard Taz didn't want to work with him, which surprised me a bit since Taz trained him on "Tough Enough".  I don't know about any legit heat with Jim Ross or Mike Tenay, even though that was alluded to last night.  I always though Mathews was perfectly fine with WWE and was sorry to see him released, but he's been abysmal with TNA from day one and as a heel he's 100 times worse than Cole was in that role, and Cole was just awful.

Also, The Pope was totally lost last night and I almost felt bad for him.  He barely said two words and couldn't figure out a way to interject anything between the Mathews and Borash fighting.  Why is he on commentary and not still wrestling?  He does occasional indy shots, so it can't be a medical issue.

Made it through about 11 minutes before I turned it off. When the biggest channel changer in the company (Matthews) is talking the entire show you're doomed to fail.

The Impact website is down due to a server issue. We are told the company wasn't happy about crashing but was happy it due to traffic.

The Youtube videos for Alberto el Patron's debut in Impact Wrestling are already in the hundreds of thousands, way up from what the company usually has in terms of views.

If you noticed there seemed to be no big pop for Alberto's debut last night, we are told a technical glitch with the video wall as well as losing the feeds to a handheld camera for a few minutes led to some edits.

Maria Kanellis' exit in storyline is that she had a "nervous breakdown", according to Sienna. They slipped in a line that it was actually a contract issue (as in real life, she opted not to sign) so if there is a return down the line, Kanellis could always claim it was a lie.

Are they building to Matthews getting in the ring?

Nope. Not exactly anyway.

I just checked the website and it's up again, but looks basically the same as before and is awful.  It also still says TNA in one link, so they couldn't even get the branding consistent.  Just unacceptable.  PWInsider had reported that they were looking to launch a new and vastly improved website in time for tomorrow night's show, but technical issues aside I don't see any improvements here.  There's a really poorly written "article" by the female backstage interviewer talking about the El Patron-Lashley match, if you can find out how to get to it.

The link is to the TNA app.
