Watching this on a delay now. The first episode of the reboot begins with a very lengthy announcer "shoot" battle between Josh Mathews and Jeremy Borash. Well, that's one way to do it.

Reno Scum vs. DCC is the opening match. Matthews asks who they are. Great way to get new talent over. JB says they're the Future Stars of Wrestling Tag champs out of Las Vegas. I believe online reports said they were the GFW Tag champs but that seems to be incorrect. No mention of GFW yet. So why exactly is an indy team coming out with their indy belts on an Impact show?
Instead of getting the new guys over or even mentioning their individual names, Matthews and Borash argue the whole match. If this is the direction of the company now with announcers dominating everyone's attention for 99% of matches, this will be a disaster.

Sienna says Maria has had a nervous breakdown and is no longer with Impact. Ok. Then she threatens Allie. So she has stepped in.

We have a 4-way X Division match with Braxton Sutter vs Marshe Rockett vs DJ Z vs Caleb Konley. Sutter is the only one who gets an entrance. Rockett and Konley have been with Impact for like 6 months now and this feels like their first match because they've done absolutely nothing so far.  Of course Sutter wins. The announcers still arguing.

For some reason Rockstar Spud is doing the ring announcing now that Borash is an announcer. What a waste of talent.

Next up is Sienna vs the debuting Racheal Ellering. Borash tries to put her over as second generation, Matthews claims he never heard of Paul Ellering. Borash reads some facts about her while Mathews talks over him. This is brutal.  It's a calvacade of unknowns and they decided this would be a good week to go with the most obnoxious announcing ever to ensure that none of them get over.

Sienna pins Ellering and Mathews misses it as he rants about Internet fans. I really don't get where they're going with this. We're an hour into the show and all they've done is try to get over Matthews being a heel announcer now.

Amazingly enough they're still promoting Broken Hardys footage. Jeff is going to fight a kangaroo tonight.

Another "shoot" promo. Bruce Prichard comes out with no real explanation as to who he is but Mathews is still ranting. Prichard plugs his podcast first. Jesus Christ. He says TNA is dead and its Impact now. Now he's doing impersonations of Hogan, Rock, Austin, and Cena. The crowd is in bewildered silence. I had no idea this is what would happen tonight. This is a nightmare.

Prichard introduces Lashley, who's now known as "Walking Armageddon". Ok. I guess Prichard is the heel authority figure now? I have no idea. He's kissing up to Lashley. He says Lashley was personally chosen by our President to defend him. So the new direction of the company is to do nothing but talk about WWE...again.

Alberto El Patron just walks out to generic Latin music with no suspense and to little reaction.  He says like 2 words and EC3 comes out. Everyone wants a title shot. Prichard gives it to Alberto. He's atrociously bad in this role.

Dutch Mantell comes out and says he used to be Zeb Coulter but his real name is Dutch Mantell. Except that's not his real name either. By the way, he's trying to get Impact's new slogan over, "Make Impact Great", and it's not being used ironically. Anyway he says Impact was great 8 years ago and puts over Styles, Joe, Roode, Sting, Angle, etc. He says they all left because Dixie Carter was a cunt (pretty much). This episode is so fucking WCW. Now he's talking about how Impact lost all their fans and no one watches anymore. Fantastic. Mantell says he's going to make Impact great again by bringing the fans back. He does the "We the People" gimmick at the end. Wow. This night actually be the worst episode of Impact ever.

Broken Hardys time because they can't waste perfectly good footage. Jeff wrestles a kangaroo named Smokin' Joe Frazier at the Hardys Zoo. The kangaroo kicks him a bunch of times. This goes nowhere. Matt says they need to go on their next expedition for gold. They get zapped by Vanguard One and...I'm not sure what happened. They become Decay and Rosemary says the Hardys have been deleted. Decay has the belts. So um, that's how they write off the Hardys?

As a complete side note, there has been zero wrestling on this show in the past hour.

Matt Hardy and his fans are mercilessly mocking that editing job on Twitter. So much better than the actual show.

Main event time with Lashley vs El Patron.

El Patron wins the title after 2 ref bumps and a belt shot. It could've been a good match if it wasn't an overbooked mess. The refs argue as the show goes off the air. We already know that it's a Dusty finish.

This show was as bad as anything I've ever seen.

Some random observations:

It was almost as if that commentary was an alternative track done by people who hate the product.

Dutch Mantel referencing the crowd as "you, the paying fans" made me laugh. They all get in for free. They get all their income from TV companies and for pimping out their wrestlers to other organizations.

How many WWE references were there in that show? When Mantel and Prichard were naming WWE names, they pretty much got the biggest cheer of the night.

Mantel on his scooter doing the "We The People" schtick? What was the point of that. It's more "Little WWE" than it's ever been. I assume this is a prelude to bringing in Jack Swagger, who they will probably call "the former Jack Swagger" with the same gimmick that didn't get over once before.

The show ended with Alberto del Patron as the champion. It was a screwy finish, but this is wrestling, and there have been countless more screwy finishes that were never overturned. A ref bump and a belt shot don't seem anything out of the ordinary. Only if you go on their YouTube do you get Bruce Prichard (trying to) get the title back from AdP. Ao the hook to get you to tune in next week to see what is going to happen happened on line. I guess their viewership is so small now that more people watch their YouTube than their TV.

He SHOULD plug his podcast. His podcast gets more downloads and listens weekly than the Impact wrestling show, by FAR. I'm curious to see what the ratings are for this week's Impact because thanks to his podcast a lot of people, me included, recorded Impact and watched it last night, I haven't watched an episode of TNA in 3-4 years, other than finding the Hardy Boys stuff on youtube a few weeks ago to watch.
And I don't think he needed to explain who he was because he was at TNA for many years and was had an on-air role as well with Flair and I think Taz? maybe, with those tryout things they did..he's known in TNA, the only people left watching live or on TV at this point were hardcore TNA fans who surely remembered him..

I don't remember Prichard ever appearing on camera before on TNA, and the whole episode was super inside.  I understand that the TNA audience is small and probably all smarks at this point (smarks who mostly hate the product but watch to complain about it, like me I guess), but this was the same exact type of Vince Russo booking that has been a failure time and time again.  It's been proven the inside stuff doesn't work unless it's a novelty and you book good stories around it.  In ECW, they made inside comments but they supplemented real wrestling angles, they weren't used in place of them.  And fossils like Russo and Prichard have been trying to duplicate that ever since, and doing so poorly.
