For those of you in Canada, the Sweet Daddy Siki documentary that I worked on -- called "Sweet Daddy Siki" -- debuts tonight on CBC's documentary Channel.
We've got a review of it up on SLAM! Wrestling: http://slam.canoe.com/Slam/Wrestling/Movies/2017/06/08/22729771.html

I wrote up a story about my involvement: http://slam.canoe.com/Slam/Wrestling/MatMatters/2017/06/10/22730258.html

and here's the trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2V37kRtPnIQ

Details on the channel itself is here: http://www.cbc.ca/documentarychannel/docs/sweet-daddy-siki

Note, that we don't have details on distribution outside of Canada yet, and when we do we'll share the news of course! CBC bought the rights to run it first, but does not own it outside of Canada, so it will find distribution.

Thanks for the heads up Greg. I enjoyed it. The music in the background though was sometimes too loud, and I couldn't make out what the people were saying.
Funny thing, I went to see a Rush cover band at The Duke on Friday night. He said he's been a mainstay at the Duke for over twenty years now.

The music was even louder in the theatre. Definitely not mixed right. I have not watched the version off TV, but will now that you mention it.

I caught some clips in the trailer of what looks like a match from International Montreal. Siki had a run there in 1986-87. Greg, would you happen to know who supplied that footage and Siki's opponent in those excerpts? I don't recognize that footage. Pretty sure I caught a glimpse of Floyd Creatchman alongside Siki there too!

Scott D'Amore owns most of that extra footage, and it was mostly sourced out by Aaron Weiss, who got permission from Gino Brito, Paul Vachon for what little Grand Prix there is, Ed Tunney for Maple Leaf wrestling footage, and Emile Dupre for Atlantic Grand Prix. Plus some of the handheld footage from Maple Leaf Gardens in there is from photographer Roger Baker -- no sound, but unique stuff.

That Toronto handheld footage sounds fun. Perhaps it's the "Mayfield Mayhem" tape that was put out a decade ago or so? Brief clips from MLG mostly.

Roger's footage has not been seen anywhere, other than a small screening that Aaron arranged as a part of a film fest he ran.

Thanks Greg!
Off-topic, but has Scott D'Amore ever considered marketing his footage the way Aaron Weiss did when the latter controlled the library? With the recent success of Bruce Tharpe's NWA On Demand service, I would think a similar idea could work for all the Maple Leaf, Montreal International/Grand Prix, and Atlantic Grand Prix footage in D-Amore's possession. I'd love to see some of that footage again, especially some of the stuff that was on Weiss's YouTube channel years back (such as a Lanny Poffo-Bulldog Bob Brown match from AGPW in 1983).

Consider that D'Amore works with Impact Wrestling and Jeff Jarrett again, that might just be in play. Who knows. We didn't talk about it when I saw him at the Siki movie screening.

Ok got it. That would have been the same one he showed the Verne Gagne vs. Mad Dog Vachon match form Grand Prix I am assuming.

I think so -- I couldn't go to the screening. I have seen some of the footage and helped broker the deal to an extent. It's great to find this stuff.

Hey Greg,

Any word on if the documentary will be shown on the main CBC network any time soon, or will it just be exclusive to their "Documentary Channel" for the foreseeable future?

I'm kinda hoping it will show up on the "Passionate Eye" sometime this Summer, but will maybe have to wait until the new T.V. season starts in September.
