This current angle/push/burial/whatever of Ziggler's has to be the oddest thing I've seen from WWE in years.

He spends weeks coming out doing other stars' entrances, which leads to him renouncing all entrances and coming out to no music.  He wins the I-C title, throws it down with no explanation, and disappears for weeks.  Then he makes his grand return as #30 at the Royal Rumble, also with no explanation, and lasts 2 minutes before being unceremoniously eliminated and not factoring into the match at all.  Last night he returns to TV only to be attacked by Owens and Zayn before his match even starts.  This seems to turn him babyface again (?), and he says the only reason he's back is so he can main event a WM, and they gave him a win to get him into the main event of Fast Lane for the WWE title.

None of this makes any sense at all and he's getting zero reaction from the crowd at this point.  I think fans are also worried that he's going to fuck up the Styles-Nakamura dream match at WM by winning.

My favorite part is that at the beginning they started playing his theme music and then would cut it with a screeching sound into silence, like the needle being yanked off a record.  That made some sense.  Now that he's back, they start with the screeching sound and silence...and then play his music.  What in the ever-loving fuck?!  They can't even get that right.

This might seriously win the award for worst usage of a wrestler ever, dating back to the '70s.

I'm hoping that Vince gives up SmackDown to Triple H as well. SD is the fucking awful at the moment, compared to where it should be. For the show that was supposed to be about the wrestlers and not the McMahons, everything is taking a backseat to Shane vs. Bryan right now. With the guys at their disposal, they should have an awesome show.

What I most don't understand about SD! is how many weeks that will go by without top guys being on the show or even mentioned.  For a while it was Orton, Mahal seems to be doing nothing now, Styles and Nakamura were MIA last night.  WWE has forgotten how to produce a tight 2-hour show that showcases everything they need to showcase without the fluff.  Almost no one on the brand is involved in a storyline except for Styles vs. Owens/Zayn with Shane and Bryan involved.  That's it.  No one else does ANYTHING.  They don't even let guys go out and have good matches for no reason like on Thunder.  It's become worse than Raw, only at least it's shorter.

I think it's fine for guys to be off the show if they aren't doing anything. Better than having them in meaningless matches. I know NXT is only one hour, but they have guys disappear between angles, and it's never bothered me. The thing is to make the people who ARE on the show do stuff that doesn't make you think about who isn't there.

I always feel like everyone in NXT is involved in something.  Even if they're not on the show, they'll mention them or there will be a match that impacts them.  It's a really well-booked show, especially when you consider they only get an hour a week and there's a revolving door of talent.

On SD!, you have Namakura supposedly in the middle of his big push after the Rumble win, with a WM main event spot on the horizon, and I don't think his name was mentioned once last night.  And he hasn't feuded with anyone since last summer when he kept jobbing to Mahal.  And this is the guy that currently has the rocket strapped to him, presumably.

On the other hand, I love Owens and Zayn but WWE has actually made me sick of them.  Way too much.  Zayn's annoying character is best taken in small doses, and I don't need to see them in 2 or 3 segments every single week, plus getting 80% of the mic time on the show.

I had been enjoying smackdown but Owens and Zayn have become reasons for me to leave the room.

Those guys need a break from tv

Ziggler on a lot of message boards have "X-Pac" heat. He went from being an IWC darling to please go away. I've heard the same thing recently about Finn Balor.

What I can't get over is how the audience wants Rusev and Aidan English over, but they won't allow it, despite having a somewhat stale tag team division.

The Usos have done a great job getting themselves and their opponents over while having good matches.  With that being said, I think having Rusev and English as tag champs would be something fresh, at least for the time being.

But instead of that, Randy Orton shows up and RKO's everybody last week for no apparent reason, burying all of these guys again.  All of this while Orton is supposed to be a face.

I don't get it.

Honestly that is the one single thing I think Vince Russo did properly.  Look at the attitude era, his WCW era, and his time in TNA - the one thing that always happened on a Vince Russo produced TV show was that every single wrestler had something to do and was in some sort of angle.  Now as the years went on, the angles sucked, but look at his first Crash TV shit with WWF in the attitude era, and you'll see that every single person on the roster had something to do and even if it was only for a minute they would further their angle each show until it built into a PPV match or more.  There is no reason why AJ and Nakamura aren't doing something to push towards Wrestlemania starting right now.  Unfortunately, I can see an "opponents get together and tag up against a common enemy, what could possibly go wrong?" scenario.

This is absolutely true.  It led to some awful stuff, i.e. "Choppee choppee pee pee", but it also produced some incredible mid-card feuds occasionally, like the classic Val Venis-Rikishi feud that has since been lost to history but led to arguably the greatest mid-card match in WWE PPV history.  He did not bench guys.  If you were under contract and healthy, you were on TV.  Sometimes you wished you weren't, but that's a different story.

I'll say that about Balor. Don't understand the love for him, just don't get it at all. He looks WAY smaller than almost everyone he's in the ring with, it' just not believable. He's really not any better in the ring to me than anyone else, other than when he paints himself up every now and then there's nothing special about him...he's an actual vanilla midget..

I think half of his (non-painted) gimmick is his entrance music.

I agree with this.  I don't get Balor at all. Not impressed with either his ring or mike work.  I am puzzled on why they have pushed him like this.

Ziggler is one of these guys that gets championship reigns like three or four times a year despite people keep forgetting his existence and personally I can`t say I remember one single match of his, other than that one house show I went where he worked the opening and somehow got insanely over

They have no idea what they're doing with the guy. Seems to have lost all direction since they split him from AJ and Big E.
