Tonight on Raw, they announced the inaugural Fabulous Moolah Memorial Battle Royal.  I'm under the assumption that Moolah must have won a whole bunch of battle royals like Andre did.

In any case, many of the same women who were involved in the first women's Royal Rumble will likely take part in this event as well.

This looks like an opportunity to debut someone new, or for Nia Jax to get her momentum back.

This match should get everyone on the card.

Your thoughts?

Bliss vs Jax has been subtly being built for WM for months now. It’s actually the best build of any WM match. So they won’t be involved in the battle royal.  This is really unnecessary except that everything the men have the women need now.  On every single PPV.

Not to turn this into a Raw thread, but anyone see the complete fuck up by the announcer just now? “Is Rhyno going to Wrestlemania?”

“Rhyno? He’s not even in the match!@

Everything I've read about Moolah indicated she was beyond a cunt.

Coach got trashed by Cole for that mistake.  It was a Booker T. moment.

C'mon you guys. Lillian helped so many young girls achieve their dreams. After all, things were done "differently" back then.

Yeah, we've been hearing these stories about Moolah for a long time now.  WWE seems to treat it as hearsay.

It's interesting what WWE fears from a public relations standpoint and what they do not.  I guess they feel somewhat safe with Moolah, maybe because she is a woman.

I think the honoring of Moolah is more or less because she was a longtime employee

She wasnt anything special in the ring and I cant think of any point where she drew money

I think this is the 346th time this month reddit has unearthed Mollah`s "secret" as if it was our century greatest discovery.

Wow, Moolah has been Benoit'ed in record time.

PWInsider:

After WWE announced plans to hold the first-ever Fabulous Moolah Memorial Battle Royal at Wrestlemania on 4/8 in New Orleans, there had been an upsurge of negative responses online to WWE's use the late Lillian Ellison's ringname. Following Ellison's death in 2010, a number of heinous allegations were made, regrding how Ellison allegedly treated trainees and female wrestlers in her troupe when she controlled the women's pro wrestling scene.

Today, WWE responded to the negative response, making the decision to drop Moolah's name from the Battle Royal. A statement issued by the company to PWInsider.com reads as follows:

"After further consideration, we believe it’s best to proceed with the name ‘WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal.’ What remains most important is that this historic match is part of WWE’s unwavering commitment to the Women’s Division.”

PWInsider.com has been told that the online uproar led to Snickers, which is the corporate sponsor of Wrestlemania 34, contacting WWE about the issue. Snickers also released the following statement to WrestlingInc.com:

"We were recently made aware of the World Wrestling Entertainment Inc's (WWE) decision to honor a former wrestler during the upcoming WrestleMania 34 event. As a principle-based business that has long championed creating inclusive environments that encourage and empower everyone to reach their full potential, this is unacceptable. We are engaging with the WWE to express our disappointment."

Why was there no outrage over Ultimate Warrior being inducted into the HOF & the annual Warrior award ?
