After six years together and a public engagement at Wrestlemania 33, John Cena and Nikki Bella officially announced their relationship has ended.

“While this decision was a difficult one, we continue to have a great deal of love and respect for one another,” the couple told Us Weekly in a statement. “We ask that you respect our privacy during this time in our lives.”

Why am I not surprised? The only thing about “Total Divas” that wasn’t scripted was the incredible social awkwardness in that relationship.

Smart on his part. He already has 1 ex wife, and this would have been #2 and more $$$ pissed away.

PWInsider:

John Cena took to Twitter today in what certainly appears to be a comment on the end of his relationship with Nikki Bella, writing:

Hardship, loss, and humility are extremely difficult waters to navigate, but perseverance thru them builds a strength to withstand anything life throws your way.

People Magazine is reporting that the John Cena-Nikki Bella split took place just a few weeks before the couple were set to be married on 5/5 in Mexico and that it was Cena's decision.

A source that spoke to the magazine stated that Cena got "cold feet" as the wedding drew near, commenting, "She never gave him an ultimatum. He talked a really good game about having changed, about having his priorities straight, about knowing what’s important, and that it was her. But as the day got closer, it was like he just went back to who he’s always been — which is someone who puts himself first, always. He’s an incredibly dedicated, driven, ambitious guy. And for the longest time he said he didn’t think he had room in his life for a spouse or kids. It seems like in the end that was still the truth. But in that case, he never should’ve proposed, let alone in front of millions of people. Now she’s heartbroken.”

The couple got engaged in the ring during last year's Wrestlemania 33 event in Orlando. Their relationship has been chroniciled publicly as part of WWE reality series franchises Total Divas and Total Bellas.

I don’t know much about any of them but it actually sounds like a good decision. If John thinks he can’t make time for a wife and kids then he made the correct choice. A lot more pro athletes and actors would have a lot more money if they actually took the time to think about their choices.

I’ve never seen any of the reality shows so I can’t comment on him being awkward there but I will say he always seems awkward to me doing anything in wrestling. He seems robotic, exaggerated and forced with all of his motions and mannerisms.

He seems awkward doing anything in life.  I used to think his promos weren't "real" and that's why I hated them so much, but no, that's him.  He is being himself as much as Flair is being himself in the ring.  He is a very strange guy.  That's how he talks all the time.

In the long-run obviously this is great for Nikki because that marriage was doomed.  I blame him 100% for stringing her along for all these years when it was obvious he didn't feel the same way about her that she felt about him.  Watching them interact on "Total Divas" was painful.  This is a board that's going to take the guy's side 99% of the time, but she was madly in love with him for reasons that I can't figure out and she's not a good enough actress to fake it because she's a gold-digging bitch.  She already had to publicly sign away her life on national TV to just move in with him, so she knew she wasn't getting jack shit if they divorced.  She actually wanted to be with him.

This makes no sense and it is obvious you never watched Total Divas or the buildup to Wrestlemania last yr when the running joke is how John Cena would tell her he doesn't want to have kids or get married at all.
If a man tells you that and you think you can change him then it is on that woman to get the hint and bounce but if you want to stay and think you can change him well it is her for wasting six yrs of her life not Cena.

He told her that he changed his mind.  That's sorta the whole point of a proposal.  If he knew he really didn't want to, he had years to say so.  The story according to "Total Divas" was that he actually told her he was eventually going to marry her right before her neck surgery, which was a hell of a long time ago now.

Being with Cena assured her a job for life and  opportunities outside the ring that she would've never received. She loved the fact that Cena bought here anything that she wanted.

Yahoo.com is reporting that Nikki Bella made the decision to end her engagement to John Cena.

According to their report, Cena “....was making it abundantly clear that he was going into this gritting his teeth the whole way. Nikki is an amazing, talented, strong, one-of-a-kind woman. Anyone would be lucky to have her in their life — yet John acted more and more like he was doing her a favor by somehow conceding to go ahead and marry her,” the source shares. “[Nikki] doesn’t need a pity proposal, a pity wedding, a pity husband. She’s a phenomenal, tremendous woman.”

You left out the best part.  Cena's douchebag tweet in response.

"Sometimes we must bare the burden of shame and judgement to protect and give to the ones we love. #RiseAboveHate"

So, basically, the Miz/Maryse take on Cena/Nikki was 100% accurate.

Late yesterday, WWE star Brie Bella responded to the People report that she was relieved that her sister Nikki had broken off her engagement via John Cena via her Instagram stories.

Over a recap of the People report, Bella wrote, "FALSE!!" She circled a line claiming she wanted to "kill" Cena, responding, "I'll never say this and I'll always love John Cena like a brother. He'll always be family. My heart is hurting for he and my sister. #Truth."
