It was a hilariously upbeat statement about how much the fans loved the show on Thursdays and how successful they were there. What about all those cheesy, b.s., WWE "Did You Know" segments on RAW from a few years ago?

How did anyone from AAA even figure out how to buy plane tickets to NY?  When you need Impact to save you that is beyond sad. But I guarantee they asked AEW first and they said no.

They STILL haven't announced a full card, but here's most of it and there is absolutely nothing special about it at all.  You have a rematch of the Triplemania main event that we just saw, 2 matches we saw a bunch of in Impact, and the usual AAA 6-man match (and they didn't even advertise Cain Velasquez in time to make him mean something to the gate).

PWInsider:

AAA will run Madison Square Garden's Hulu Theater for the first time since July 1994 this Sunday 9/15 when they present "AAA Invades New York" live on PPV and FITE.TV at 5 PM Eastern, featuring the following announced main events:

*Blue Demon Jr. vs. Dr. Wagner Jr.

*AAA Tag Team Champions Pentagon Jr. & Rey Fenix vs. LAX, Santana and Ortiz.

*AAA Reina de Reinas Champion Tessa Blanchard vs. Impact Knockouts Champion Taya Valkyrie.

*Texano Jr. & Taurus & Scorpion King vs. Impact Champion Brian Cage & Psycho Clown & former UFC star Cain Velasquez.

There will be three additional undercard matches.  Luchadors also advertised for the event previously include Aerostar, Averno, Daga, Dinastía, Drago, Golden Magic, Hijo del Tirantes, Hijo del Vikingo, Konnan, La Hiedra, La Parkita, Lady Maravilla, Lady Shani, Mamba, Máximo, Myzteziz Jr., Niño Hamburguesa, Pagano, Piero, Pimpinela Escarlata, Puma King and Villano III Jr.

Demon and Wagner are 53 and 54 years old respectively. This is almost as bad as a WWE card in Saudi Arabia.

Reports are that even Hulu had poor advance sales and this show was looking like a total disaster with even the smaller venue being totally empty.  However there was a very impressive walk-up crowd that wound up pushing attendance to close to 3,500. AAA was reportedly happy, and extremely relieved. Most of the last-minute fans were from NYC's large Hispanic community, and many of them were families with young children who bought lucha masks at the show, and merch lines were very long. So it worked out as well as it could have given that they had to be moved to the smaller theater.

As far as match quality went, the consensus is that Impact really saved AAA's bacon because their involvement, along with the AEW match between the Lucha Bros. and LAX, really were the highlights of the show. The main event between Wagner and Demon was short and underwhelming.  Aside from sending talent, Impact worked as the local promoters and became responsible for logistics, setting up the ring, etc.  It's rare that anyone has ever said that Impact saved the day, but Impact really made this event possible.  Konnan ran the show backstage (but never came to the ring, even though many fans clearly wanted to see him), with assistance from Impact's Scott D'Amore.  Konnan sent out a tweet thanking Impact for all their help.

Impact also ran into an issue where they wanted Tag champs The North on the show, but Ethan Page was already booked for an indy date.  Impact could've forced him off the show, but chose to respect his booking so they used Michael Elgin in the spot instead.  Again, Impact was praised all around by how they also handled this and tried to keep everyone happy despite a lot of last-minute pressure.

The one negative was that Impact forced Killer Kross off the show and he was replaced by Rey Escorpion.  Kross is under Impact contract but has also been competing for AAA and was booked for this show before Impact got involved.  With Kross and Impact possibly going to court over his contract issues, Impact didn't want to deal with him at all and he lost the booking, so you can imagine that there are even harder feelings on his side now.

"Happy" in that if someone pulled your pants down in public and you were wearing women's underwear rather than women's underwear with skid marks you'd be happy at the very slightly lower level of embarrassment. AAA wont be going back to NYC for a long time.

AAA needs to send Impact another huge thank you.  I wasn't expecting that, but it makes sense.
