Dear lord it is pathetic listening to him and Dave on WOR recapping Wednesday night. I know Alvarez isn't much of a "reporter", "journalist" or whatever he wants to pass himself off, but he is a very good wingman for Dave on the audio shows they do. He has a good radio voice and at times can be very entertaining to listen to, but lately he has been just really bad. AEW can do no wrong with him. Even if something was unarguably bad, at least with Dave he will be critical of it, but Bryan just makes excuse after excuse for that company.

Maybe after years of having to watch years and years of shitty WWE shows, he's just happy that he's watching a weekly show that he enjoys now. You don't enjoy, but the world would be boring if we all liked the same stuff.

I haven't seen anything cringe-worthy in AEW so far that needs to be bashed that hard.  It is what it is.  You either like the flippy-floppy wrestling or you don't.  The promos have been fantastic, the character development is starting to get there, and the matches are mostly good if you like that style.  If Alvarez really likes those types of matches, I don't know what you want him to knock.

I think last night's NXT was a better episode for the first time since they've gone head-to-head because I will take what The Revival and Fish & O'Reilly did over Darby Allin stuff any day of the week, but there's never been anything to date in AEW that makes me groan.

PWInsider:

The numbers are in for the eighth night of the Wednesday Night Wars and finally, AEW's winning streak has ended.

For the first time, NXT beat AEW in overall viewership, while AEW had a higher number in the 18-49 demographic.

AEW Dynamite on TNT did 893,000 overnight viewers, down from the 957,000 that they did last week.

NXT on USA did 916,000 overnight viewers, up from last week's 750,000 overnight viewers.

Looks like we have a real war on our hands.

Meltzer has somehow turned AEW’s first loss into a victory. Lol

“If judging on who should be happier with the results, that would be AEW. To even debate that point would be foolish, but with the tribalism going on, people will try.”

Yeah I saw that to. He does have a point though in that WWE had to throw everyone they had, including their top workers from Raw and SD on the NXT show. HHH saying back when they started that this "war" is a marathon, not a sprint clearly is not the case.

I thought the spot with Jericho making fun of Stunt was hilarious, especially when after asking when Stunt was born and told 1996, Jericho calculating in his head how old he was, then claiming he was a kid with fake ID

Meltzer is reporting that WWE was not happy that Billy Gunn used his WWE trademarked name while wrestling on AEW Dynamite last week. Gunn also wrestled under that name on an AEW PPV before they got TV and no one really cared, but now that there is a TV "war" they were really surprised it happened again. WWE owns the name "Billy Gunn" and has always let him use it on non-televised indies, but AEW is a different story. Meltzer says that there are no plans to pursue legal action, and the timing of any griping is bad given what happened with Britt Baker at NXT, but there's "disappointment" that Gunn and AEW are doing this.  Vince feels that he has been very good to Gunn and they mended fences and he put him in the HOF even after he left for AEW, and now he should know better.  If it continues, WWE is absolutely within their rights to take legal action.  As a preventative measure, AEW may decide to change Gunn's name, but he works there as an agent and there aren't many plans to use him as a wrestler going forward anyway except for the occasional surprise.

He should just use Mr. Ass - there's no way that WWE kept up the trademark for that one. And I bet that this doesn't happen again now that Cody has trademarked "Dusty Rhodes".

Joey Janela no-showed tonight and is unhappy with the way he’s being booked. This will be AEW’s downfall if they can’t get a tighter grip on the talent. It’s walking that fine line between being domineering like Vince and being complete pussies to the point that there is no boss. Even the guys begging for a release in WWE are at every single show because they know there will be holy hell to pay if they’re not.

“Didn’t get on my flight for @AEWrestling Dynamite tonight, I’m not going…. Nothing was addressed about the way I was eliminated from the match last week, I’m losing all the steam I created on my own through 14 years of hard work, right these wrongs and answer the phone..”
