I’m still watching the weekly AEW show on TNT and I really don’t see where this company is going. This week had Marko Stunt and Jungle Boy in the mix with the top guys. The Tranny is still getting airtime, and Joey Janela’s complaining finally got him a main event match. Last week, Excalibur made Jim Ross look fucking stupid when he knew the names of the people that came from under the ring. Everybody is still flippin’ and floppin’ as well. Anything with Jericho, Rhodes, and MJF is always awesome, but promos can’t keep holding this together.

AEW and NXT tied this week, with exactly 778,000 viewers each. That number was down about 75,000 for both shows.

So we’re two months in now, what are everybody’s thoughts...if you’re still watching, or if you gave them a chance and stopped watching already, why?

I’m still watching but it’s not essential viewing as it was at first. Overall I like the show, which is more than I can say for WWE shows these days, but I still find myself wondering who half the guys are or why I should care. I don’t really feel like there are any angles, just a bunch of wrestling matches each week. Feels very thin at the top from a starpower standpoint.

I like both AEW and NXT.  I think they're different and that's just fine.  AEW is short on promos but the ones they have are tremendous, some of the best I've heard in years.  Character development is still lacking.  The matches are the matches - they're indy spotfests and lots of people like that and lots of people don't so I don't see the use of arguing about it every week.  NXT is hit or miss with some really great matches and some filler.

I haven’t watched anything current since the takeover / survivor series weekend outside of a segment here or there.

AEW turned me off with their multiple platforms I have no interest in chasing their product across TNT, YouTube and B/R app and whatever else they have. I’m not that old but I’m not that interested to try and figure it out so I just said fuck it and moved on.

On top of that the E has spoiled the PPV system by giving them away for free so why would I pay for a AEW PPV when I wouldn’t pay for Wrestlemania.

I watch Jericho's stuff, Cody's stuff and MJF. The rest is fast forward fodder.

Chris Jericho went on Konnan’s podcast and said this:

“I called a team meeting — I’ll tell you right now. The lack of tags and the lack of just normal tag team wrestling psychology drove me nuts to the point where that was one of the big knocks against our company in about week three or four if you remember.

“They started making excuses for the Lucha Brothers cause I’ll be honest with ya, tagging out they’re lazy. They don’t care. They just walk in and out whenever they want and do whatever they want and it’s not right. It’s not how you do it.

“They would make excuses and they would say, ‘Oh, it’s lucha libre style.’ Huh, that’s funny because guess what? I worked in Mexico for two years and guess how you make a tag in a lucha libre match? You stand on the corner and you wait for a guy to touch you and you walk in. That’s lucha libre rules, AKA tag team rules.

“So, I called a meeting with the whole crew and said you’re burying the refs. If you don’t have any rules then you don’t get any heat and it’s killing our show because our honeymoon period is over and now people are watching us and they’re being confused by the lack of rules. So that’s changing slowly.”

i was talking to my buddy last night. aew has at least 2-3 indy balls out matches every week. occasionally i love those type of matches. i am a big fan of PWG, where many of these guys have been regularly over the years. the big difference is PWG runs about six or seven shows a year, not weekly, the indy flippy kick out of 30 finishers isn't as annoying and is more palatable with a less is more approach imo.

i love the presentation of aew and am very curious to see how NXT will look when their tv starts traveling.

AEW announced that in 2020 they will begin an official podcast hosted by Tony Schiavone and produced by Warnermedia. So now there will be podcast wars with WWE's hosted by Corey Graves.

Do you know something we don't?

So we have Page and Omega angle interrupted by Pack.  Which was ok but then they go to commercial and have nothing when they return to close out the segment and build it commentary-wise.  Announcers don’t even mention it.
Then Blade Bunny people who they still have not gotten over what is their point.  I guess they tried say MJF hired them.  Sort of.  But still no clear objective.  Bunny is kind of hot though.
Then, Brandy Rhodes is evil but it is just stupid.
They do try the JR Jungle Boy interview in ring ESPN/NFL pregame show style.  That was good, but needed to be Tony, he comes off more likeable than JR.  Jungle Boy was bland and probably nervous but those segments make it seem “real”.
But then the stip with Jericho?  That could have been so much better. There was nothing at stake.  Now Jericho on to Moxley?
The booking is just a convoluted/ half done mess.

Didn't watch last night's show yet, but people want original characters and then shit over the first original characters that AEW tries to create.  Give it a chance.  At least it's an attempt at character development.  For the record, I'm not a fan either, just sayin'...

I don’t want characters Rossi, I want old school rasslers.

This is just hokey.

They are missing boat bigly with Blanchard. He needs to be talking about recreating Tully Blanchard Enterprises.

Have arn involved and opposing him somehow. Have TBE go after Dustin or Cody. Have Arn try to assist the Rhodes only for them to turn on the Rhodes yet again

Honestly revisiting the Rhodes vs. Horseman feud has very limited appeal to 99% of fans in 2020, even the ones that know the history. They’re mostly killing WWE in the under 40 demo and focusing on that, so this isn’t going to happen. But obviously Tully could be better utilized, so you won’t get an argument from me on that.
