The National Wrestling Alliance officially announced the following: Effective immediately: Jim Cornette has resigned from the National Wrestling Alliance. As an announcer on the November 19th edition of NWA Power, Jim made remarks during a singles match between Nick Aldis and Trevor Murdoch that were both offensive and do not meet the high standards of decency and good faith of the National Wrestling Alliance. To ensure that such an error can never happen again, we've established new procedures of review for all NWA programming going forward. We sincerely regret our failure in this regard.

Doesn't help that it came less than 2 weeks after the NWA had to apologize for his previous suicide remarks. So does Cornette beg AEW for a job now? I'd like to hear him call some Young Bucks matches.

The show was taped on October 1st. They should fire the editors. And Joe Galli, since he was sitting right next to Cornette and didn't flag that he said something that might have been offensive. This could easily have been dealt with in the seven weeks since they taped the show.

They posted this announcement on Facebook and hilarity is ensuing in the comments. Imagine the typical guy who is watching this show and his he is dealing with this. Then make it a million times worse. My new all-time favorite Facebook comment is “This is bullshit! How is this racist? There are plenty of white people starving in Ethiopia too!”

Is ACH gonna knife Cornette in the shower or can we keep Victor Quinones out of the booking sheet?

I really enjoyed Jim’s commentary on the NWA show. If the NWA didn’t notice the comment 2 months ago and fix it, it really shows how pathetic of an organization they are running. I’m no longer watching Powerrrrrrrrr

Some are saying he used that same exact line in 1995 with the WWF.

EDIT : Damn he got fired for that, i mean the joke is weird because fried chicken is more of black american thing, but is he implying it more on hunger level and murduch is tough because nobody wants to bother him ...i'm not sure but he deserves to be fired for making me think hard for what angle was he going with the punchline I mean duh, in WWE you have Becky calling herself the Man, a gimmick that is laughable because Becky doesn't even look intimating to females let alone a Man but can get away with it in this era, because WWE won't book no man to smack daylights out of her. Look at this match, no way it will be allowed in 2019....shoot with the amount of different variation of female eyecandy we have now in WWE, you know how huge the ratings would be if we got more bra and panties matches but can't do it Last edited on Wed Nov 20th, 2019 07:54 pm by krazykid18 |

On a basic level, the joke just isn't funny. Maybe it was a subtle calling card to Vince.

If Cornette's future commentary is dubbed over (which will be hard since you'll always be able to see him in that tiny studio), then the last match he will ever call for the NWA was some God-awful comedy bullshit that wasn't really comedy where The Question Mark stumbles around the ring like a drunk and hits these weak-ass "karate chops" which everyone sells for real. And this is OK but if The Question Mark was an 8-year old girl it would be the biggest disgrace to wrestling ever, even though the girl would certainly hit harder. You know what, fuck Jim Cornette and the NWA. Last night's show kind of sealed it in multiple ways. The whole situation is becoming a trainwreck. The NWA can't figure out if they're Motley Crue or Steel Panther. They're both horribly dated to the point of absurdity, but one is in on the joke and the other isn't. The NWA tries to be both. I just can not believe that there wasn't at least one check of the recording prior to it's airing, which is apparently what the NWA told us indirectly. Any number of things could have been on it, including signs, words and/or actions by members of the audience that weren't noticed at the time the show was recorded. You would think at least 1 person would do this just to avoid any legal actions. It's either that, or the person/people who did that found nothing wrong or offensive with Corny's comments, and he got hung out to dry when there was an outcry. TBH until I read what was said I assumed this was all blowback from the comments Cornette made regarding Justin Roberts. It can be a hard lesson to learn but comments that wouldn't have caused any reaction 30+ years ago won't pass muster today. You could not get a show like "All In The Family" or a movie like "Blazing Saddles" made in today's PC compliant world.
