What is RAW doing these days? About a 3.5 (I think)

Okay - going back to 2001 (averages)

January    RAW   5.1  / Nitro  2.35

February   RAW  4.9  / Nitro  2.3

March       RAW   4.7 /  Nitro  2.3

They clearly pick up some viewers initially

April         RAW   5.3

What the hell happens in May that causes their ratings to drop to levels below when they had competition?

May          RAW  4.4

June         RAW  4.3

A bounce-back

July          RAW  5.1

August    RAW   5.15

Next four months affected by football?

Sept        RAW   4.65

October   RAW   4.2

Nov         RAW   4.3

Dec         RAW   3.7

Now to be honest, they would kill for these (what were considered under performing) numbers today.

So where did the fans go? Was their something else on Monday nights that significantly picked up?

I dunno. Shouldn't they AT LEAST be at a level where they were when they had competition? I realize you won't pick up and retain all of the Nitro viewers - but geez ....

For a lot of folks, switching between the shows was a big part of tuning in on Mondays.

Plus the grown-up thing mentioned previously is also huge, IMO.

So was the WCW invasion on during this time or was that the following year? Really seems to me the WCW guys they brought in didn't catch on with fans. And in fact may have driven some away.

They just lost interest. Just like a lot of us lost interest in the early 90s (and are losing interest now).

What drove the people away is that nothing has really changed since 2001. If it wasn't for the WWE wellness policy over half of the guys appearing on the 2001 cards would be the same names that are on the 2007 cards. Most of the guys on 01 roster were on the 06 rosters. Most of those guys who are gone from the 01 roster can still be seen periodically on TNA.

I mean how many times can people watch generic looking guys all wrestling the same match, a bunch of chicks that look the same, Vince McMahon trotting out like he has a load in his pants, the oldest ravers, the gay cowboy, and the king of clit cocks do and say the same shit over and over before they fuck it lets watch something else tonight.

I quit watching on Mondays around 2000... I just didn't like it compared to 1996-98.

1996-98 was a renaissance in my wrestling interest as well. Once Nitro started down the Russo path, I lost interest. Once WWE became the only game in town, I knew it was done for me forever.

I will submit that all the divas do not, in fact, look alike.  Melina looks like a cricket with  two balloons tied to it that got dropped in a bucket of paint.
