To be a bit more specific, I mean pushed talent in a major territory. Two names come to mind:
Verne Gagne
Ricky Steamboat
Any others?

Did Farmer Burns or Duncan C. Ross ever blade? I don't think so. Add them to the list.

I’m surprised Steamboat never did in his early days; after all he allowed Harley to sand paper his face after a hard way according to Flair.

This is a great topic but I tend to think that virtually every wrestler whose career was at least 5 years long and started before say 1990 shed blood via blade.

Did someone like Thesz blade, or believe it should be part of the business?  I could be way off-base, but I assume he was not a fan. I don’t remember if he addressed this in “Hooker”, but if he did I don’t remember.

In Hooker, Thesz records blading as starting in the 1940s, by wrestlers who couldn't get attention any other way.  Which sounds about right when you see who bladed the most.  I think he put Danny McShain down as the first blader.  Shikat/Ali Baba in 1936 was apparently a gorefest but that may have been hardway or even chicken blood.

But there's not that many.

That’s pretty much what I would’ve expected him to feel about blading. So does anyone remember Thesz actually blading?  I’d think he might’ve gone his whole 50 year career without doing so. Maybe he let someone bust him hardway, but provably not even that.
