This is really a big step back for the NWA as they have had no leader since Dave Lagana's firing and are now crawling back to Dave Marquez and Championship Wresting from Hollywood to help them produce television again. Everyone who hates Marquez is about to get a lot more of him.

Everyone who hates Marquez is about to get a lot more of him. He is horrible on camera. Looks like he's not taking the thing seriously at all. I assume he is, and he thinks that all his facial expressions are incredible method acting, but comes across like he's just playing along. It's kind of hard to explain exactly, but he's a complete 0/10 as an interviewer. He's such small potatoes in the wrestling business, I'm surprised no one has pointed out to him backstage how terrible he is. He completely ruins any interview where the interviewee is trying to be serious. Even Justin Roberts (1/10) is slightly better as his job than Marquez.

Everyone who hates Marquez is about to get a lot more of him. And yet he's kept the NWA alive for 10-15 years and now they're relying on him to do it again. You're surprised no one tells him he sucks? Are you surprised no one tells Vince he sucks? Marquez may not be Vince to you but to the NWA he may as well be. They have no one else who can keep them alive on TV. Last edited on Tue Aug 11th, 2020 03:18 pm by srossi ____________________ This thread was great before AA ruined it. |

The main event of the first show is set to be Nick Aldis defending the NWA title against Mike Bennett. It's also thought that NWA Women's champion Thunder Rosa will probably defend her title against an AEW star. Also announced: Alexander Hammerstone, who has really turned heads in MLW, will defend his West Coast title against EJ Sparks. And Chris Dickenson, formerly of EVOLVE, will make his NWA debut. The booking team is Aldis, Marquez, and Damian Sandow. The talent seems to be almost completely turned over from the NWA Power shows since almost none of them remain under contract.

This premiered last night. Anyone know where it might be online? The usual places have nothing. It seems to be too under the radar.

The live feed was really bad according to all reviews. Maybe someone will post it later if they can copy an on-demand version. At $14.99 I can't imagine more than 100 people paid for this.

This actually sounds awful. PWInsider: Last night's United Wrestling Network PPV debut was marred by streaming issues for the FITE version, which seemed to get better as the show went on. We are told by readers who ordered the show on InDemand and other PPV providers that the PPV version did not have similar issues. UWN President Dave Marquez addressed the issued on Twitter: Thanks to everyone who joined us tonight for #PrimeTimeLive! I do apologize for the technical issues on @FiteTV, those happened on their end. We’ll be replacing the show with a master file. See ya next week! pic.twitter.com/07IaoCSytm — David Marquez (@CWFHMarquez) September 16, 2020 The show also ran into timing issues as several of the earlier matches ran long, leading to the Tribe vs. Wolf Zaddies and the UWN TV title bout between Dan Joseph and Levi Shapiro being extremely cut down. It seemed the tag match competitors had zero idea they were going to a time limit draw when the bell rang. The NWA Championship match between Nick Aldis and challenger Mike Bennett was obviously on hyperspeed as well as they rushed to make sure they could get through what was planned in the 8-9 minutes they had. Aldis' main events usually go in the 20-25 minute range, so they were working around what time they were left with. In my opinion, the promotion would be better served opening up with the main event - or at least making sure it goes on 45 minutes into the 90 minute broadcast, so that the match that the PPV is built around has all the time it needs. Then, they can slot the younger, athletic talents (such as last night's Will Allday vs. Jordan Clearwater bout) into the final slot of the PPV, giving them the spotlight. After all, this isn't a traditional TV broadcast, since anyone watching has paid for it, so there's no danger in them "clicking" to the next show. The promotion already has their money. The PPV could not extend time or run long as they needed to be off the air by 10:29 EST on InDemand. Dave Marquez directed the PPV. Although he was mentioned on the air, NWA President Billy Corgan was not at the PPV. Joe Galli, Todd Kenley and Alyssa Marino were absolutely excellent on commentary last night. There were zero injuries coming out of the show. The backstage interviews were all pre-tapes from earlier in the afternoon. Several hours before the PPV, there was a power outage in Long Beach, CA, where Thunder Studios is located, which obviously would have been a disaster had that happened when the show was on the air, but thankfully that didn't happen. Announced for the United Wrestling Network's Primetime Live Episode 2 for Tuesday 9/22: *NWA Women's Champion Thunder Rosa vs. Priscilla Kelly. *Eli Drake vs. Watts. *The Friendship Farm, CWH Heritage Champion Ray Rosas and Karl Fredericks to appear.

The timing issues sound like amateur hour. Surely they could have brought someone in with experience of this behind the scenes.

It sounds like some young undercard kids saw this show as Wrestlemania or something and wanted to show off and went long. Seems like lack of respect to mgt and lack of control by the people running the show. Everyone knows that on live TV you better hit your time cues. If they purposely went over, they should never be booked for this show again, period.

I haven't watched it yet, just wanted to have a quick look. They are using the toy ring that Championship Wrestling from Hollywood uses. Impossible to take seriously. If you put on a submission in the middle of the ring, it's only about a foot and a half to get to the ropes. If RVD had done the Van Terminator in this ring, he would have jumped clear out of the ring.

Alyssa Marino (f.k.a. Kathy Campanelli) got rave reviews as a commentator on this show, which brought to light the fact that she and Joe Quastro (another CWFH alum) were released from WWE during the Covid cuts. It's hard to believe that WWE couldn't do anything with them considering the state of the commentating teams in that company.
