Billy Corgan has announced that Power is coming back on March 23, preceded by an NWA PPV called "Back for the Attack", which will air the afternoon of WWE Fast Lane 2 days earlier.

Corgan: “What I didn’t anticipate was how much people would love the format and want more of it and not less of it. In our downtime, we did a fan survey and the No. 1 thing was, don’t get rid of ‘Power.‘ We were never in any financial peril. We were totally on a growth pattern. The plan for last year before things kind of hit the skids was to start pivoting. We were in discussions with Live Nation about running live events to help bring in revenue and expand who was watching the product. It was more about growing pains stuff, but we didn’t have any problems internally with the product.”

Since they last aired, they've lost Eli Drake, James Storm, Colt Cabana, Ricky Starks, Eddie Kingston and, sadly, The Question Mark.

There's not much left of their already paper-thin roster. They were working with ROH when they went off the air. Will that continue? I'm guessing Thunder Rosa vs Serena Deeb will be on the first PPV.

They desperately need help from AEW and ROH, but most likely will get it from Championship Wrestling From Hollywood instead.  I expect the crew that was used on UWN Primetime to be utilized heavily to fill out cards.  And other than Chris Dickinson, no one there is worth a damn.

But if they're not at least asking for Ricky Starks and Colt Cabana to be loaned back to them for a bit, 2 guys who mean everything to the NWA and absolutely nothing to AEW, then I honestly don't even know what the point of the "relationship" is.  Starks should job to The Pope on the PPV in a TV title match, for example.  Cabana could job to Trevor Murdoch for that other NWA title no one gives a shit about to give him some semblance of credibility.

Of course I'm still scratching my head as to why they could never get Nick Aldis a title defense or two on Dynamite to keep the title active during this hiatus.  Aldis vs. Jungle Boy or someone would mean a lot to a kid like that and also a lot for the NWA to be on real TV again.  It's a no-brainer.  Then you come back maybe with Aldis against a great veteran who barely wrestles anymore like Christopher Daniels.  Two jobs that don't hurt AEW at all.  Hell, you could even put Billy Gunn in that spot.  I could see that main eventing any high school gym in the country the last 10 years.

PWInsider:

The announced partnership between FITE.TV and The National Wrestling Alliance will see four PPVs per year produced as well as NWA Powerrr airing Tuesdays on FITE.TV. The plan is for FITE to offer a subscription service for the weekly NWA TV similar to what the streaming service offers international fans with AEW+. The NWA content will be 100% exclusive to FITE going forward.

The return PPV is set for for Sunday 3/21, titled Back for the Attack at 4 PM EST. The show is scheduled for Sunday afternoon in the United States with an eye on international viewers being able to watch it in the late evening live as it happens. The PPV will air on all traditional PPV and satellite providers beyond FITE.

NWA Powerrr, as a weekly series, will return on Tuesday 3/23 in an empty arena environment on FITE.TV, still being taped at its usual home of GBS Studios in Atlanta, GA.

NWA President Billy Corgan was interviewed today by The Associated Press to discuss the move to FITE at this link. During the conversation, Corgan revealed the NWA was about to sign a deal with Live Nation to present a series of house shows before the pandemic brought everything to a halt. PWInsider.com has mentioned this before as the promotion was within weeks of closing the deal that would have seen events in Long Island, NY, Chicago and other markets.

"“We were never in any financial peril,” Corgan said of the NWA's status before the pandemic shut-down. “We were totally on a growth pattern. The plan for last year before things kind of hit the skids was to start pivoting. We were in discussions with Live Nation about running live events to help bring in revenue and expand who was watching the product. It was more about growing pains stuff, but we didn’t have any problems internally with the product.”

There had been interest in the NWA from at least one other streaming platform that had previously featured professional wrestling before the deal with FITE was signed.

NWA Champion Nick Aldis will be one of those leading the charge for the promotion, in front of and behind the cameras. Billy Corgan will remain the booker.

Pat Kenney, aka the former Simon Diamond, will be taking a greater role for the NWA going forward and will be essentially heading up talent relations.

Aron Stevens, NWA National Champion Trevor Murdoch, NWA TV Champion Elijah Burke, Tim Storm, Thunder Rosa and Kamille are already being advertised for the PPV. Homicide is also expected to return and the plan is to debut a number of new talents since others have moved on since the promotion paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The NWA has released a video to hype the return of Power, with the last scene featuring The Question Mark.  I imagine they'd have to give him a nice tribute on the first show.

The NWA is starting to release names of wrestlers who will appear on Back for the Attack, which gives some idea of the roster moving forward.

In addition to the few holdovers from the Power era, they have announced:

*Tyrus (Brodus Clay)
*Chris Masters
*Crimson
*Jordan Clearwater
*Slice Boogie

So yeah, this is going to be a rough show to get through.

Billy Corgan announced that the main event of the PPV will be Nick Aldis defending the NWA title against Aron Stevens. The match and the card will be dedicated to Stevens’ tag partner The Question Mark. Expect a tribute to him at some point in the show as well.

So yeah, this is going to be a rough show to get through.

Tyrus is 48, last wrestled in January 2020, and only one other time since he left Impact in January 2018.

Chris Masters is 38, younger than I thought, and has been wrestling reasonably regularly on second-tier indie shows for the past few years. Was he ever any good, though? To my recollection, no.

Crimson was wrestling regularly for OVW until June 2019, after which he pretty much disappeared until last month when he reformed his tag team with former NWA World Heavyweight Champion Jax Dane.

Jordan Clearwater is a regular for CWFH and New Japan Strong.

Slice Boogie (awful name) is a CWFH regular.

They are trying to sell a PPV with a weaker roster than the one used by UWN Prime Time. I hope they have more than this, but surely you would lead with the biggest names to generate interest and sell a PPV. With no build up, why would I buy this when there is too much better wrestling every week for free?

Aron Stevens is a very good mid-card comedy wrestler. Good enough to hold a secondary title, but he's not a contender for the top title.

It's also very telling that the main event is the world champion vs 1/2 of the tag team champions.

Crimson has basically semi-retired and as been working backstage for the NWA.  He was seen on camera a few time during the Power era breaking up fights and stuff.  He also has worked backstage at OVW and I want to say he had a brief run or try-out in that role with Impact as well.  So he's a guy they're just bringing back to an in-ring role because of lack of options, but Crimson is being smart and cutting out the bumps and if he keeps building a backstage rep for himself he might wind up in WWE or AEW.

Just announced for the PPV, The Pope defends the TV title against Thomas Latimer.

I assume the NWA has also lost Royce Isaacs since he appeared on AEW Dark Elevation. Latimer and Isaacs were former NWA Tag champions and in a stable with Nick Aldis, but Isaacs never really added much anyway.

IS Latimer the ex husband of Charlotte Flair? I don't remember if this is the guy.

Also - does Billy put these PPV on TV or are they streaming deals? Just asking. Corgan has said that money was never an issue and I believe him because while the production value was extremely high, he probably just borrowed the equipment from his Smashing Pumpkins inventory. I am hoping he can find a few people to join the roster. I would bet the AEW guys that left the NWA would come back assuming they aren't under contract. You have to give Tony Khan credit for adding these guys so that they can get paid during the pandemic when the NWA didn't run. But as was said before, a bunch of them are not necessary. Ricky Starks is going to stay as part of Team Taz, but does Colt Cabana really need to be in Brodie Lee's old group? Without Lee as the leader, they've just been going through the motions for the most part, and I think they are keeping the crew together at this point just so there is a place in the company for -1.

Yes, Latimer is Charlotte’s ex-husband and she accused him of beating her.

Power is coming back on Fite TV so you have to pay now.

Trevor Murdoch vs. Chris Masters has been added to the PPV. This is a 2005 Heat match.

Not saying it won't be a decent card, but how is this worth paying for with no build?

*NWA Champion Nick Aldis vs. Aron Stevens in a bout dedicated to the late Joseph Hudson.

*Thunder Rosa vs. Kamille to determine the number one Contender to NWA Women's Champion Serena Deeb.

*NWA National Champion Trevor Murdoch vs. Chris Adonis (aka Chris Masters).

*NWA TV Champion Elijah Burke vs. Thom Lattimer.

*Tyrus vs. JR Kratos.

*Crimson vs. Jax Dane vs. Jordan Clearwater vs. Slice Boogie
