I don't think we have one of these yet... The card: Night One WWE Title: Bobby Lashley (w/ MVP) vs. Drew McIntyre SmackDown Women's Title: Sasha Banks vs. Bianca Belair Raw Tag Team Title: The New Day vs. AJ Styles & Omos Bad Bunny & Damien Priest vs. The Miz & John Morrison Braun Strowman vs. Shane McMahon (Steel Cage) Cesaro vs. Seth Rollins Lana & Naomi vs Dana Brooke & Mandy Rose vs The Riott Squad vs Tamina & Natalya vs Billie Kay & Carmella (Tag Team Turmoil) Night Two WWE Universal Title: Roman Reigns (w/ Paul Heyman) vs. Edge vs. Daniel Bryan Intercontinental Title: Big E vs. Apollo Crews (Nigerian Drum Fight) United States Title: Riddle vs. Sheamus Raw Women's Title: Asuka vs. Rhea Ripley Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn (w/ Logan Paul) The Fiend (w/ Alexa Bliss) vs. Randy Orton Women's Tag Team Title: Shayna Baszler & Nia Jax vs winners of Tag Team Turmoil No pre-show matches this year from what I gather. I read somewhere that the planned pre-show matches will be held on Friday's SmackDown. A women's tag title match and the Andre battle royal. I can't find a link now, though, so we'll see. I guess it will be announced on Raw. Apart from the Universal title match, nothing stands out here. Awful planning means that none of these matches have had any type of build to get anyone excited about them. They've put the most time building up Shane's match, but the build-up has been epic levels of awful. Some of these matches wouldn't even be that interesting if they were TV matches (Riddle vs. Sheamus, Cesaro vs. Rollins). I think I was more interested in the NWA PPV. The line-ups of most episodes of Dynamite are more inspiring than these. Take 8 of these matches and you might have a WrestleMania card, but this just looks like two episodes of TV. 06/04: Edited with updated card. This doesn’t feel special to me either, but it isn’t all WWE’s fault, some of it is lack of my personal interest. These things have made Wrestlemania feel like not such a big deal anymore, at least to me: 1) The model is backwards for me: My cable bill to watch Raw and Smackdown is/was more expensive than the now expired WWE Network to see the PPVs. That is even more so now with Peacock. The tv shows are trying too hard to work towards the PPV for me. Just make the stories and angles matter and stop working so hard to put over the PPV event. I’m burned out on every promo plugging the upcoming PPV. If the angles were good it should take care of itself. Let the bumpers put over the PPV’s. Stop saying it in every promo. 2) “Wrestlemania” is not that over with me. Pointing at the sign and the ultimate goal being “main eventing Wrestlemania” is lame. Tell me about the “winner’s share of the purse” or something. Tell me about the money. Make it relevant to the fan, the fans can relate to money. 3) Too many meaningless PPV shows. There are just too many PPV’s and not enough difference between the tv shows and the PPV’s. They have to find a way to create a difference. Shortening Raw may be a good place to start.

The SmackDown thing is from Meltzer. They don't want any pre-show matches because they want a top star to come out first on both nights to get the big pop from the live crowd. The battle royal and whatever else was booked for WM being moved to SmackDown is to keep the run time down. They want to keep the shows below 3 1/2 hours. 6 matches in 3 1/2 hours sounds like it could drag. Some of those early WMs have 10+ matches. The matches aren't great, but the variety keeps the show moving. Randy Orton can get in a good 8 minute headlock with this much time to play with.

Moving the Andre Battle Royal to Smackdown seems lame to me. It should be the popcorn match between title matches. Due to the last year of booking, this thing has the least impressive group of participants I think I've ever seen. It's basically the 24/7 division that runs around the arena and a couple other forgotten castoffs. Nakamura should win this thing. Last edited on Mon Apr 5th, 2021 12:37 pm by Boz1515 |

I get the idea to open each night in front of a big crowd since it’s been over a year, but surely they could squeeze a 10 minute Battle Royal in somewhere. Very lackluster card even for today’s standards, with the most intriguing things being the Universal title and seeing a live crowd again.

WWE can't find anything for Keith Lee or Otis to do, but Tucker gets a match... Last edited on Mon Apr 5th, 2021 01:07 pm by Kriss ____________________ “Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.” ― Mark Twain |

Kriss wrote: WWE can't find anything for Keith Lee or Otis to do, but Tucker gets a match... I thought I heard somewhere that there was supposed to be some type of 4-way tag title match for the Smackdown guys. Something like Roode/Ziggler vs. Otis/Gable vs. Rey/Dominik vs. Street Profits. I'm guessing this is going to evolve as a preshow match.

So they changed the Bad Bunny match into a tag match, which is the right call, because at least it adds some intrigue as to what the finish will be. They also added a women's tag team turmoil match on night 1 with the winners challenging on night 2. I guess this is instead of a battle royal for the women. Gotta feel bad for the IIconics here. A great double act, split up for no reason, and now can't make a WM card with 14 women included. Also, Charlotte Flair getting screwed over by someone else's pregnancy and her own non-pregnancy. The story has always been that Vince liked the two nights of Wrestle Kingdom, and that inspired the idea for two nights of WrestleMania, but he can't have been watching closely. At Wrestle Kingdom 14, Naito, Okada, Ibushi and White all wrestled both nights. This year, three matches from night 1 led into night 2, including the main event with Ibishi wrestling both main events. Basically, they had a way to make both night's equally special. This weekend, the only people wrestling on both nights are going to be a women's tag team. Wrestle Kingdom really feels like a two day festival of wrestling, while WrestleMania is just two shows in two days. Something as simple as Daniel Bryan vs Edge on night 1, with the winner meeting Reigns on night 2. I think I just improved WM by 100% right there.

These are basically two individual shows being promoted as one, opposed to night 1 leading to the intrigue of what is going to happen at night 2. They’ve made their one event that was still special feel like just another interchange show.

If it was a Nigerian Spear Fight it would be so racist that they’d dig up Bill Watts to cancel him even though he’s not involved in this thing and isn’t even dead yet.

So not even the novelty of having to force an opponent's head through a drumskin or something.
