If this is true, didn't take long. What'd they expect saddling him with a rehash of his 1999 gimmick?

Take from the uber-reliable PWTorch, via the even more reliable Rajah:

I dont think the gimmick is the problem.  I think its his look.  He looks ridiculous.

And does it surprise anyone really?  I'll look forward to the JBL program, but WWE is really finding new ways to wreck a good thing every day.

So he didnt get the reaction out of the gate they expected?  Make the fans care.  Make 'em care with a series of grueling matches between Jericho and Orton.  The matches both are (allegedly) capable of.

The new look really is atrocious, you really HAVE to have him be a heel looking like that.  But I really don't think a program with JBL makes much sense.

What the hell are they doing with JBL anyway?  Every week he's been getting involved in the action in a totally random way, then it's forgotten the next week.  Misterio, Batista, Undertaker, Carlito, who else will he randomly lay out with no mention of it ever again?  He's a retired announcer who destroys the top stars in the company and they never even attempt to get their heat back.

My issue is this "oh the fans didnt react let's dump the idea" mentality.

Used to be, they'd MAKE the fans care.  Build a guy.  They've forgotten how.

Well, he was the flavor of the month last month, and now that month is over.

Yeah, he was, like, so November.

What did Jericho do last night? I'd guess he was lost in the shuffle.

He got to come out and beat up Bischoff, whom I believe he personally despises.  That was fun to watch because of the history of the two.  Then he got to take out Randy Orton, current titleholder, with a sharpshooter while being put completely over by JR.
I don't think that's exactly being buried.

Not to nitpick, but it wasn't the sharpshooter, it was the Walls of Jericho (Boston Crab).

Fucking nitpicking bastard!:D  Nah, thanks.  I forgot the name.  I just like Jericho as a performer.

Doesn't that usually mean he has no shot to win the belt?

Shhh! That's you being swerved.

Seriously, though, I'm a huge Jericho fan but this run has been a bit off. They can't put the belt on him (can they?) and where's he go after the title match? Right into the upper mid-card where he always was. Then I heard Haitch was politicking backstage and it's just indicative of more to come. At least he's back, but I don't see how the whole "save us" thing is supposed to work. Just "saving us" from Orton???
