I remember Slick calling him Billy Dead-Head. And of course Lyons sign-off
"Don't cha dare miss it."

Here he is interviewing a young WWF superstar.

I remember watching Sheik TV in 1967 and announcer Ernie Roth was always pushing the tag team of "Flying Fred (Curry) and Billy Red."

Billy was one of the first wrestlers that I remember, and yes, I remember him wrestling in Pittsburgh.  I think my Dad took me to Kittanning to see him live, and Billy treated me very kind as a kid.

Me too. I never really liked his announcing skills but he was still a big part of the show that made me a rasslin' fan.

One of the reasons alot of people do not know him is there isn't much in terms of video out there on him.

He is one of the announcers for the Race vs Funk title change in Toronto - right? I am thinking Lyons was pretty much not fulltime in the ring at that point or do I have it wrong?

only on the packaged version that is out on recent comps, he wasn't announcing till the last part of the 70's, early 80's, he was going steady (in ring) until about '80 and then just around Toronto into about '84 , did get to see him quite a bit in the later years and he was still great in the ring, his bouts with The Destroyer when he came back to T.O. were classic

RIP BRL
