Beatles

Stinks this matchup is already happening, but it had to happen somewhere. I love the Stones, but the Beatles were just better. It helps that they broke up at the exact right time and didn't have the slow, downward slide that the Stones did.

This is the toughest choice...absolutely love both bands.

was a bigger Beatles fan as a kid, and have really gotten into whole albums by the Stones in the last few years.

Rolling Stones

I still don't understand why people say the Stones had a downward slide. They had that run of absolute perfect albums from the late 60's through the early 70's, then people think "Ok, they are over" then they put out "Some Girls" which is one of if not THE best album they ever did. Then they don't do much in the 80's, but damn, Voodoo Lounge, Bridges to Babylon, A Bigger Bang, all great albums.

Yeah, but after Some Girls, you have Emotional Rescue through Dirty Work (including the oddball compilation Made in the Shade) which wasn't exactly scintillating. There are some nuggets in the that run, though. Then things get more on track with Steel Wheels.

For me you can also add the album "Undercover" to that list. That is one of my top three Stones albums ever.
