No offense but I call bullshit picking Fox after it was announced that he won't be back.

I'm not saying entering the picks a bit late shouldn't be allowed but not Fox in this situation.

I agree. been known for some time he wouldnt be back, as his contract was up @ the end of the season...kinda obvious to pick him.

I'll put up standings later.

Let me consider what to do with Fox because we have the unusual situation of knowing his fate while he was still coaching a game. My knee-jerk reaction is to "allow" the points for those that submitted before the 12-31-2010 midnight deadline and to disallow after that. I believe the news of him not being brought back broke on the 31st but the only parameter we had in place was a 12-31-2010 midnight deadline. And the picks were in private so as to discourage copying.

If I go in that direction I will bump Angelic Assassins other picks up by one point.

Fox was such a "gimme" I can't believe everyone didn't have him as a ten point pick even before the announcement.

Most people knew Fox wouldnt be back, after last season, it was all over the media, that his contract was up this year< and he wouldnt be asked back.......

I didnt pick him because I knew last season, he wouldnt be back...kinda the concensus all year.

That sort of makes him more-than-obvious as a choice though, doesn't it? If you knew it so far in advance and didn't choose him, that's on you. Mangini getting fired is pretty much the same thing...more-than-obvious that he was gone at season's end, but I forgot to pick him. That's on me.

Anyway the picking of Fox by anyone that submitted it before January 1st isn't the issue in my mind, but AA submitted his/her picks after january 1st, and possibly after it had been "oficially" announced that Fox would not be back. that's the only reason I called BS on that specific selection by that specific poster being allowed.

Whatever Beej or Claw rule on this is all good.

I have no problem with Fox not being my 10 point pick. Kind of figured he'd be going but really the last couple weeks I didn't get to pay much attention the the NO Fun League and I was going to put Mangini as my 10 point pick and then some little bird(now deceased) told me not to.

Had I been around when Fox was hired he would have been my 10 point pick back then, can't stand him so glad he's gone.

Move every else up and if it's cool I give you a 1 point replacement with Roy Hodgson the shitty ass manager of Liverpool my favorite European Football Club.

If not leave my 1 point pick blank and maybe someone named "blank" will get fired out of a cannon.

It's all good!

I was on the fence with Mangini (leaning towards "they wont") but by halftime yesterday you could see it in his eyes.

I keep hearing Tom Cable. I'd be surprised I thought the players that have Al Davis' ear love him.

Al Davis has ass cancer that gravitated to his brain. The Raiders weren't downright awful this season, so Cable is probably done.

I have a knack for cheering for teams that blow but I've never been a jump on/off the bandwagon type of guy, especially when it's moving. A look at my favorite teams per sport tells you I won't be seeing a championship for awhile.

Football(NFL)-Oakland Raiders-nothing since Jim phucking Plunkett if I remember correctly.

CFL-Winnipeg Blue Bombers(greasy ass motherfuckers), worst football team I've ever seen except for when that motorcycle riding home Reinbold was the coach for 2 years. My hometown so I have to cheer for them.

NCAA-Ohio State Buckeyes-well one team that doesn't suck

Premier League-Liverpool(sucking big time this season)

Hockey(NHL)-Montreal(stop yer fucking laughing)17 years and counting

NCAA-NDFS- the Sioux are also mostly respectable

Baseball-Toronto Blue Jays & the no longer in existence Montreal Expos

NCAA-don't really follow College Baseball-it can go fuck itself

NBA-Toronto Raptors

NCAA-Georgetown since back in the Patrick Ewing days

Yeah, but that would mean he wasnt fired? if we all knew he was gone from the beginning, and wasnt fired, as his contract wasn't renewed, then that would mean he's disqualified, as we're talking about fired coaches? he wasn't fired.....

I'm entered in the pool. If it was my call, it wouldn't be fair to the rest of you because Fox and Mangini are my 10 point pick and 9 point pick respectively.

Standings

This has the Fox and Mangini firings in it

Not having your contract renewed means "get out of here" by the way

Didn't count Angelic Assassin's Fox pick because it came after the 12-31-2010 deadline and he had the opportunity to look at other's picks. Penalized 10 points out of 51 possible - 20% sounds about fair. He can still win but he better be good.

It will be interesting to see if the guys that went the hockey route (Lobo, Canadian Horseman) hit on a high percentage. Points there that not alot of guys tapped into.

Kudos to Claw for having Fox (10) and Mangini (9). Mangini wasn't a sure thing until yesterday IMO. if the Browns had won they would have saved his job IMO.

Here's something I probably should've thought about before posting...

Suppose a coordinator is named interim head coach, ala the Vikes' Leslie Frazier (I know Frazier's probably going to be retained as the Vikes head coach, but play along).  Suppose the Vikes decide to go out and hire a new yet coach, yet offer Frazier his old Defensive Coordinator position, which he accepts.  Does that count as a firing, since he's no longer the HC, but technically is still with the team?

Or how about this...what if the above scenario applies, but Frazier--hoping to get another head coaching position--resigns.  What then?

I have a feeling there will be other questions that will arise when
someone is "fired" this year. If you have any questions or possible
scenarios that might need clarification, better ask them now so Beej can
set a ruling in place to ward off any disputes.

Resigning isn't the same as getting fired

The other scenario won't ever happen (coach kept on board as a coordinator) - that isn't "fired" but it won't ever happen because when you bring in a new coach you don't want the old one there (rather uncomfortable for Mr New Head Coach who would prefer to put in his system for doing things)

Getting kicked upstairs is also not a "firing" (they're still with the team)

Hopefully no deaths but that also is not getting fired although Claw will give you dead pool points
