Lobo, why would you fire Coach Schwartz? he's won them more games this year, than we have in 2-3 seasons before? he's a good coach, give him a bit more time. He turned around our D in what, one season? The guy can coach. Plus, its Detroit, the Lions wont shit can him. Now, in 2-3 yrs, if we dont get better, then yeah, maybe, but not yet. Fuck Dick Rod....

Reminds me of the time someone called the Fabulous Sports Babe & asked her who the new quarterback might be for the Eskimos, or whatever. she hung up on him, saying "honey, no one gives a rat's ass about the CFL".

Surprised no one chose Tom Cable. OC Hue jackson's contract is up and he wants to be head coach. Firing Cable is something Al Davis would do to keep Jackson.

Should have picked him because Al Davis is nuts. Cable did a really good job coaching the Raiders this year. But Davis has fallen in love with the OC and Cable could lose the power play. Al Davis was once way ahead of his time. Now he doesn't have a clue.

khawk wrote: Angelic Assassin wrote:10-John Fox I'll put up standings later. Let me consider what to do with Fox because we have the unusual situation of knowing his fate while he was still coaching a game. My knee-jerk reaction is to "allow" the points for those that submitted before the 12-31-2010 midnight deadline and to disallow after that. I believe the news of him not being brought back broke on the 31st but the only parameter we had in place was a 12-31-2010 midnight deadline. And the picks were in private so as to discourage copying. If I go in that direction I will bump Angelic Assassins other picks up by one point. Fox was such a "gimme" I can't believe everyone didn't have him as a ten point pick even before the announcement.

Mangini just got axed. From the USA Today site, The Cleveland Browns fired head coach Eric Mangini on Monday after finishing its second straight 5-11 season under his tenure. Team president Mike Holmgren met with Mangini and relieved him of his duties, one day after the Browns lost their fourth consecutive game to close the 2010 season. "This decision was not easy for me, and it was one into which I put a great deal of thought," Holmgren said. "Although we have made improvements this season, my responsibility is to ensure that we establish a program that will allow this team to compete at a championship level. That will continue to be our goal in everything we do. I want to thank Eric for all of his contributions to the Cleveland Browns, and wish him and his family the best of luck in the future." Hired in 2009 after being fired as head coach of the New York Jets, Mangini went 10-22 in two seasons. Holmgren, hired in late 2009, granted Mangini a second season after the Browns closed his first campaign with four straight wins. But the Browns struggled to move forward in 2010, rotating Jake Delhomme, Seneca Wallace and rookie Colt McCoy through the starting QB position on an offense that ranked 29th and scored just 16.9 points per game. Mangini thanked the Browns and said he felt he left the team in better position than when he arrived. "I have a deep respect for the players that I have coached the past two years and how they have made a profound difference in changing the culture - a tougher, smarter, more competitive, selfless team that never gave up," Mangini said. "Our goal was to build a team for long term success. The core characteristics we were dedicated to, I believe, will help achieve that goal, and have provided a strong identity for this football team and have helped to create a positive foundation upon which the organization can continue to build." Holmgren, who won Super Bowl XXXI as the Packers' coach and coached in two other championship games, will launch a search for a new field boss. He has not yet said if he would consider taking on that job himself. -- Sean Leahy
