I'll toss a second for Bon Jovi as well.

One band I don't think I have seen is Social Distortion... Mike Ness and a slew of others have been playing for over 30 years, and are still relevant today with a new album and a great single put out this year.

Can't believe I forgot RHCP. They should be a high seed, for Pete's sake.

Yardbirds are the predecsors of Blues rock.  Besides the obvious starting point for guys like Eric Clapton, Jimmy Paige and Jeff Beck, they were a huge influence on bands like Led Zeppelin, The Who, and even Traffic.  Speaking of Traffic they deserve a shot as well.

Tournament will start April 12 with 16 bouts. The Tuesday to Friday deal again. I only will vote in the case of a tie.

If you want to add a band, make your case for adding that band and subtracting another band.

Complete seedings will be up Friday night. I'll be out of town for the Kenny Jay benefit in suburban Minneapolis Saturday. Away from a computer from early AM Saturday to probably Sunday evening. I'll start working on the seedings today. Let you guys know which bands are on the bubble before I take off for the benefit.

Even when "complete" seedings are up, you guys can still make cases for adding and subtracting bands. Hence the "on the bubble" bands.

These are the bands I believe do not compare at all with the other bands on the list and have no shot at all, and seem to be mostly bracket fillers... IMO,the only way they even win a first round matchup is if they are paired against each other and someone has to win.

The Animals
Genesis
Jefferson Airplane
Steve Miller Band
Guess Who
Supertramp
Steely Dan
Blue Oyster Cult
Yes
Boston
Foreigner
Jethro Tull
Journey
UFO

I'd swap Motley Crue for any of them

I'd swap Social Distortion for any of them

(I'd also think AC-DC, Queen, and Aerosmith should be seeded in top four... maybe for the Clash, U2, Pink Floyd or Bob Seager)

Possibly a side discussion, but Nirvana are hard to classify as "best of all time". No doubt they defined or re-defined rock music in the early 90s and are still one of my all-time favorites, but their music did not stand the test of time for want of a better phrase.

I have younger friends and colleagues who do not remember as far back back as Nirvana breaking on the scene, and none of them rate Nirvana in the same way I would rate Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, early Queen etc. "Nevermind" was voted the most overrated album of all time a few years ago on our top music radio station.

Interested to hear how Nirvana are thought of in the US by people in their early 20s or younger.

Since nobody has stepped up, I'll do it myself. Santana in. Chuck Berry Out.
