Whichever coach in professional (or college) sports that has done his best work in 2008. Could be bringing a team from nowhere to being a contender or just a coach that has maintained solid performance over a period of time. The guy that never costs his team games but instead adds a couple to the "W" column by outfoxing the opposition.

Bill Belichick. Yes, they missed the playoffs, but the guy went 11-5 without Tom Brady. He proved he doesn't necessarily "need' Brady to have a good record.
