This may have been the most anticipated match in Mid Atlantic history, no kidding it was that much hyped, Slaughter and Kernodle vs Steamboat and Youngblood in the cage, if Boat and Blood lost they could never team again.

It is not an urban legend at all that traffic was backed up for 20 miles in each direction heading to the coliseum, police were actually diverting folks and telling them if they didn't have tickets, to go home, in 30+ years of watching wrestling this was the hottest crowd I have ever been a part of, and the match itself was great.

This is the finish, the whole thing is probably on youtube if one chooses to look

When people cared about who won.
And after the match.... the way Slaughter struggled to get Kernodle up and get the two of them out of the cage. That shot was the cover of Inside Wrestling, I still have it somewhere. They sold the whole thing like a million bucks.
Outside of one blabbermouth, the rest of the crowd just stands and watches as Slaughter and Kernodle leave the cage and pass through.

Kernodle was jobbing in the WWF within 3 years of this match, maybe 2.

In fairness, I never really saw anything in him, by far the weakest performer of the 4 who got very lucky to be involved in the feud of a lifetime.  But still, it was a steep decline after this match for him.

The whole card is up on Youtube - I watched it about a month ago. If you look at a post further down here I posted Battle of the Belts...the guy that posted that is the one that posted this card.

I have seen it, the only thing missing is the match immediately before the cage match, which was billed as a title vs title match between Flair (NWA) and Greg Valentine (US champion at the time), a match that went the full 1 hour Broadway and was, in my opinion, as good as anything Flair later did with Steamboat or Windham.

To the best of my knowledge that match for whatever reason wasn't filmed or has never made it online anywhere, it is my Holy Grail of wrestling, forget the last battle of Atlanta.

I have the full card minus the Flair vs Valentine match. Jim Nelson aka Boris Zhukov was selling the card and a dvd of the build up matches a few years ago before WWE started cracking down on video they own.

The Valentine Flair match was taped but the guy who copied the video for him from JCP couldnt add it to the VHS tape due to the time of the card.

Is there any footage of Flair vs. Valentine at all from this time period?
