All-time classic angle.  Very obvious today and it's been done to death since, but at the time it seemed fresh.

Comes off as real. Zbyszko's 'gripes' (in Bruno's shadow forever) come off as legit. No sign of the heel turn which just added to the shock of it all.

At the time, I liked the angle although by that point I could tell what was coming. Still, they both did a good job with it.

I don't think I've seen this since it was first broadcast. It's puts a TON of perspective and backstory to the big match broadcast the next week with Bruno doing practically nothing but sidestep Larry's offense.

Even though it's probably been posted here multiple times, here it is again. I never get tired of this. It is just perfection. For a 10 minute match they told the story perfectly. Built it up slow and easy with every single spot flush with meaning. Also, I've said it before and I'll say it again, Vince McMahon was one of the greatest wrestling announcers of all time.

This is the first big angle that I remember from my childhood. I used to be a big fan of Garea and Zbyszko since they were the good guys who would always run from the back during the TV tapings to rescue the face in peril. When Zbyszko turned on Sammartino and kabonged him with the chair, I was shocked. I couldn't believe that one of my favorite wrestlers was turning heel. That Larry was able to get 30+ years of life out of this heel turn (he used to always bring up his "Legend Killer" nickname and talk of how he forced Bruno into retirement) is a testament to how great the angle was.

He also took the living legend moniker eventually.

Wong Lee is right.  It is easy to forget that Vince was a very good announcer.   The match was well done but what made it even more special was that Bruno had almost never been on regular TV since he started his second run as champ.   Even afterwards he hadn’t wrestled on tv hardly at all.  I know that changed with David later on but at that time it was so rare to see Bruno on TV wrestle.

The TV match is a classic. It's a match and a story being told both at the same time.

Would have been better if Larry had pulled off Bruno's Rug.
