Jim, or anyone else, do you have results for the San Francisco territory for 1979 to 1981? That would have been the period when Shire's promotion was on its last legs as a territory and when he then booked in talent from Portland, then Kansas City, and finally Florida before closing up shop.

I never knew Roger Kirby, Jerry Valiant and El Bracero were in Oakland in 81.

Did Bruiser send them there?

I have Dick Slater in a San Francisco Battle Royal on that date won by Patterson, but have the undercard match he (Slater) was in for the 16th.

January 16th is a Friday. San Francisco (Cow Palace) held  their shows on Saturdays.

Thanks for the results. I appreciate it. The Observer's Roy Shire obit/history of the San Francisco territory 1961-81 peaked my interest in the end of the line for that promotion. It's quite amazing how quickly it crumbled. Hooking up with the Central States territory for talent was a big mistake. Perhaps no one else would work with Shire, but going with Geigel definitely accelerated the decline and probably gave the AWA ideas about seizing the Bay Area.

Were Afa and Sika pushed as wild savages there or just two dudes who happened to be Samoan?

The Wild Samoans and the Anoia Brothers were nite and day. They were both soft spoken and well behaved in SF.

I had a feeling the savage gimmick wouldn't go over well with the SF crowds that were probably 25% or so Samoans.

Also, I guess there's probably no footage of them from this territory is there? It's amazing how it was one of the bigger territories of its time and almost zero footage exists.

There is footage of the Anoia Brothers in San Francisco. I have one disk somewhere where they were tagging against a young Buck Zumhoff and someone else. They were interviewed afterwards and asked what happens if they were the last two in the Battle Royal.

It was this telecast:

1/13/79 SF TV
Ed Wiskowski beat Ted Heath
Buddy Rose beat Zulu
Anoia Brothers beat Buck Zumhofe & Masked Grappler.

I don't understand the "SF TV" results w/ Geigel's crew...I thought that the territory was being run off the Kansas City tapes.

It's a term/designation that comes up a lot in old results. It just means that this is the TV show that aired in San Francisco. It was still taped and produced in Kansas City.

For comparison's sake, there are some AWA results floating around with the designation "Davenport TV" or "Chicago TV", but it was still the AWA's All Star Wrestling show that was taped at WTCN-11 and later KMSP-9 studios in the Twin Cities.
