Here's what I researched from an old KM Message Board post between Clawmaster and Mike Rodgers.  Initially, Dusty may have been advertised as Rock Rogowski.  He may or may not have wrestled as such.  If he did it was only for a few weeks.  Still working on complete verification.

From: "Michael Rodgers"
To: "James Zordani"
Subject: Re: a question about Texas results from 1968

Hello,

I found the Matmania from July 68.

So I looked at the results and they were as I had printed then I went to the roundup of the territory and this is the paragraph on Rogowski.

As for Rogowski/Rhodes, just let me say that he is one of the most exciting young wrestlers I have seen in years and years.  Billed as a nephew of Dick The Bruiser, he has patterned his style of wrestling after him and should be as big a star with more experience as his cuz.  Big, Brawny and a superb wrestler, he has enough meanness and strength to more than off-set his lack of experience; and more speed than many men fifty pounds lighter than he.  A great one now, and he will be getting better all of the time.

So I guess Dusty Rhodes was being billed as Rogowski.  As I double check the word Rock is never mentioned.  When I saw Rogowski I assumed it was Rock.  I guess that solves it.

------------------

So it was Dusty Rhodes not Rock Rogowski.

Jim

Ole was the one who was billed as the nephew of Dick the Bruiser.Check out this article and photos from 1968 before Ole became Ole. With the short blond hair, Ole  could have wrestled as brothers with Dusty during that timeframe, they looked so much alike.

01/30/88 Greensboro, NC Dusty Rhodes beat Barry Windham
Take this match out of the mix. Barry Windham was still a babyface teaming with Lex Luger at that time. He and Dusty would not have been wrestling each other.

1987
03/05 Memphis, TN Bill Dundee beat Dusty Rhodes

Just saw this recapped in the Gettin Results pdf files.   It says the bout was billed as a "King of Tennessee Death Match"... stuck in the middle of all his usual bouts against JCP headliners, it's a very odd change of pace for Dream.

This doesn't answer any questions but...

Dusty was the latest guest on Steve Austin's podcast and he marked November 14 as his "45th year in wrestling" saying he debuted as "Sonny Rhodes" against Lenny Montana in Boston.and later says it was Danny Plechas in Texas who coined his name as Dusty Rhodes.  I am guessing he may have been Sonny Runnels in his debut as he struggles to keep his stories straight... he goes on to say his first match was for whatever title Montana was holding, and that Dusty was billed as a New England Patriots star.   Back then he would have still have been a Boston Patriot, but Dusty said he was in their training camp and was cut in any event.
