Vance Nevada wrote:1979 Here is some more info on those Oct. 79 bouts in Japan. They were for the IWE promotion. Lou wore his classic NWA Title belt into the ring in those matches. The 10/3 match was a 10min. "exhibition" or sparring match. Thesz traded holds with Teranishi and gave technique tips during the 10 mins. No pins were attempted. 10/4: Thesz executed a backdrop suplex and got a two count as the bell rang and the 10min. time limit expired. 10/5: The Bockwinkel-Kimura match was AWA Title vs. IWA Title, and ended when Bockwinkel knocked Thesz outside of the ring as he was caught in Kimura's Boston crab, and was DQ'ed. Thesz also ref'ed the NWA Jr. Heavyweight title match earlier that night that saw champion Nelson Royal and Ashura Hara go to a draw/double count out (both on the mat in the ring and could not get to their feet by the 10 count). 10/6: Thesz & Bockwinkel vs. Kimura & Kusatsu ended when Bockwinkel executed a backdrop suplex on Kimura and both could not get to their feet by the 10 count. Does anyone know why Georgetown would be featureing Lou's picture on their promo adds in the paper, when he was not even on some of the cards being held? Was he the promoter or something for that town? I'll scan a few clips and upload them a little later today to show what I mean.
