I don't see this card listed, it's from 1955. I love how they had to draw in the top of his head!

1962 almost finished. Made several updates to 1955, 1956 and 1957. Will add Hisa's card from 1960 later.

This card if from Bridgeport, CT in late Nov/early Dec 1956. Interesting way to write an article.

http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=DXEmAAAAIBAJ&sjid=PAAGAAAAIBAJ&dq=dick-the-bruiser&pg=4006%2C333804

Tuesday, February 5, 1957 - Arena - New Haven, CT
1)Antonio Rocca vs. Dick the Bruiser
*Taken from an interesting article on Vince Sr's expansion into CT from the Bridgeport Sunday Herald.

http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=-G0mAAAAIBAJ&sjid=XgAGAAAAIBAJ&dq=dick-the-bruiser&pg=2178%2C1137918

Saturday, June 28, 1958 - Garden - Boston, MA

3) Yukon Eric vs. Joe Christy
4) Don Leo Jonathan vs. Sammy Berg

*Promoters: Eddie Quinn & Paul Bowser. Special Referee: Jack Dempsey.
*This comes from an article from the Lewiston, ME newspaper. The headline reads "Kowalski - O'Connor Top Mat Card at Portland Saturday" but the article always refers to Boston and the Boston Garden. I don't think there was a Garden in Portland.

Added the New Haven listing already and even found the result Rocca winning 2 or 3 from Bruiser. Now I'll add the other three cards.

Now that I finally figured out how to correctly use the Google News Archives, I'll probably be able to add results to some of the lineups. Already did it for some Ottawa Cards in 1957. The trick is to click browse this newspaper after you click the first link. Then look for the date of the newspaper that might have the results.

To the best of my knowledge, the year 1962 for Indianapolis and Cincinnati has not been researched yet. What I do have for both cities for 1962 are old results and lineups from Wrestling Revue magazine. I think it was Wrestling Revue. Anyhoo, Rich Tito bought them on EBay a long time ago, printed them out and sent them to me. They were very hard to read and sometimes it was hard to tell which matches were from what date. So there is a margin of error in those listings. A few Cincy results have been checked by newspaper clippings but not many of them. But for now this is the best I have and will have to do until those cities are researched for 1962. Rich Tito has been sending me stuff for years and thanks to Rich as always.

Now the AWA Title held by Don Leo Jonathan that was later won from DLJ by Karl Gotch. I list it most of the time as the AWA Indiana title. It would also be correct to list it as the Ohio Based AWA Title. The story I have always heard/read was Jim Barnett and Johnny Doyle who were promoting in Columbus Ohio as well as Indianapolis, Detroit, Milwaukee Denver and a ton of other cities one day came up with the idea to put a belt on Don Leo. They called it the AWA World Heavyweight Title. This was not Gagne's AWA but the AWA promoted by Barnett and Doyle. I've also heard/read Don Leo may have won a tournament in Denver for that title. One of these days I'll find out which story is true. The Denver story appears to be a myth. Read more on it right after the 3/2/62 Denver card provided and researched by Tim Hornbaker.
