Know you are busy and feeding us the early days of Flair (great stuff to read through) ~ one of the match results from 1974 had Larry Hennig beating Roddy Piper. And that got me to jonesin' for some early Piper history. Whenever. The Flair stuff is great.

I assume Piper started as pretty much a jobber because of his size.

carlton st can help with this one. I think AC has one of the early Piper clippings. I have some Winnipeg stuff, Maritimes listings, Texas results and then Los Angeles bouts.

Give me a few days on this one.

Mark Eastridge is the man. He posts as clip corner on a few boards. Most of the Flair JCP stuff I have came from Mark. Once I finish the Flair 1974 stuff, I'll get to Piper.

Probably Rick's brother (I think his name was Pierre). He was already a veteran when Rick became a wrestler.

Khawk is correct, Frenchy Losier may be Frenchy Martin Pierres frequent tag partner

Frenchy Losier & Frenchy Martin are 2 different wrestlers.
I saw him in the Maritimes where he wrestled as a mid card
face. He also wrestled as Yvon Losier.

I've been busy on Backlund so Piper has been put on hold for now. I'll get to Roddy eventually.

Piper started working the Texas circuit in January 1975.  I believe it was the 9th or 10th.  When I get home tonight I will look it up and start posting them.  If I recall correctly Piper was pushed in January with wins over Mad Dog Vachon.

Remember that Mad Dog was a top rated wrestler in Texas and the AWA.  Mad dog would win the Brass Knucks title a few short months from Superstar Billy Graham.  Graham won the title back for his 2nd run shortly after that.  A little nostalgia that isn't on the internet, Graham holding the Brass Knucks Championship twice in 1975

Piper was in Texas primarily durring this time, to which I have most of his daily bookings from my researching Texas for 1975 2 years ago.

Welcome Vance. Vance is really the one that got the whole online record book thing going. I was fortunate enough to be included with several other researchers, collectors and historians to compile results on given wrestlers and territories.

Beej,

The Piper/Flair bout was a TV match on the AWA's flag ship program All Star Wrestling. Vincent K McMahon might have footage of it as VKM bought Verne Gagne's AWA tape library. That bout is a holy grail wish for sure.
