What is the story with Mr. Saito at these cards? I am skeptical, but willing to be convinced. Why was he in Wisconsin in the middle of nowhere for these cards? Was he in the state for some sort of post parole follow up? Was he in the Twin Cities to see old friends and arrange him and Riki Choshu going to the Las Vegas taping and tagged along? It doesn't make much sense. Does anyone have New Japan results to compare to these dates?2/20/88 Rhinelander, WI @ High School

I probably don't have all the cards for New-Japan, but Masa Saito was on the 2/7/88 card in Sapporo. Those with more knowledge than I, didn't they have breaks from one series to another? After the 2/7/88 card, the next card is 2/29/88 in Tokyo, in which he teams with Riki Choshu and Hiroshi Hase defeating Antonio Inoki, Dick Murdoch and Shiro Koshinaka

I've always found this strange too. The Pirate was replacing Adrian Adonis on those cards I believe. If it was Saito, why give him that gimmick for just two days?

5/12/85 Minneapolis, MN This card was at Minneapolis Auditorium, the first card there in a few years. Martel vs. Bockwinkel, Road Warriors vs. Blackwell and Hennig, and Garvin vs. Crusher were the billed matches in the advance ads that called it 20 big matches and 3 main events. The card was not called a TV taping in advance and the fact that most bouts were squashes was not made known. Tonga Kid was billed in the newspaper ad, but no showed. Baron Von Raschke was in drag as Bertha Von Raschke for the Crusher vs. Garvin match to counteract the interference of Precious.

The Pirate mask is probably the same one Orton wore in New Japan's Feb-Mar tour.

I don't think you have this one. March 12, 1977 - North Branch High School Gymnasium - North Branch, MN 1. Greg Gagne and Jim Brunzell vs. Blackjack Lanza and Bobby Heenan This was a Jaycees fundraiser card. The town is in central Minnesota, north of the Twin Cities and about due east from St. Cloud. No other matches were listed in the Minneapolis Tribune blurb from 3/10/77.

There is a program on EBAY right now that has the lineup for Clinton, Iowa on July 31, 1968. I had one result (Dr. X over Frankie Laine) but now we know the other matches were Bob Boyer vs. Harley Race and how about this one...The Crusher vs. Dutch Savage!
