Here is a question:

It seemed to me that Georgia was great in 1980, 81 and even into 82.

By 83 they had people like Zbyszko and Killer Brooks clogging up the TV. Orndorff was still around a bit, but was doing Japan and had a foot out the door for the WWF.

Ole went cheap and was using youngsters like Darsow and the Road Warriors and Brett Wayne Sawyer, etc.

Question: When Race beat Flair in mid-1983, I don't recall Race ever appearing on Georgia TV as the champ and Ole did not book him ... except for one card in Cleveland where he was likely just filling a Flair booking.

Did Ole not want Race because he was passé as champ and would not sell any tickets? And he didn't want to give him the agreed upon percentage for the NWA champ?

Just my suspicion that Ole was trying to cut every corner.

Flair won it back at Starcade 83 and was back on GCW that following Sat and I don't even think they mentioned how he beat Race, just that he just regained it.
