It is right. During the 1981-82 tv season, the old IWA tapes from 1975-77 were rerun  on several North Carolina stations. They were so popular that Johnny Powers got some of the old crew back together and ran some house shows. My buddy Dave Routh told me he was the referee for some of the shows. Here is the clipping from a 1982 show here in Mount Airy. I think I also have one from North Wilkesboro, NC for 1982.

Here is the ad for the card that tamalie mentioned above. I can't remember who Dave Routh said that wrestled with Newt Tattrie as the Mongols. Mighty Igor had been wrestling for Championship Wrestling from Florida prior to this if I remember right. Dave did say that not all the guys that were advertised showed up. Mighty Igor, Bulldog Brower, Johnny Powers and Luis Martinez  were there. I did see some of the promos that were taped for these 1982 shows.

Still would be surprisedsend if Bolo Mongol was on that show since he was masked superstar and wouldn't be working against the Crocketts

He wasn't. The result clipping that clipcorner sent me posted above confirmed that it was Jim Tucker who teamed with Geeto Mongol on that card.

Did they give Jim Tucker a haircut and call him Bolo Mongol in the hopes fans wouldn't notice the difference between him and the guy from the old IWA tapes?

I heard an interview with Gene Legion from about 10 years ago on 57Talk. He mentions he wrestled on the very last IWA show in 1977 and defeated Rip Tyler to become the final IWA Junior Heavyweight Champion. Could the Gene Stevens listed on the 8/19/77 card be Gene Legion? I do not think this was the final IWA card because the venue he describes winning the title in was something like a tobacco barn but I don't see Gene Stevens listed anywhere else in results nor the name Gene Ligon.

BrettEW, it was Gene Ligon. His name was spelled correctly in the preview article here.
