Greg Gagne keeps talking about French tours and wrestling a few miles from where his grandparents grew up on the ESPN Classic shows. Does anyone have results of these shows, assuming they actually happened (which they might not have)?

I doubt those shows happened.

Actually, it's sort of a wonder they didn't try to pull this kind of thing more, since there was no way for a fan back home instantaneously to verify anything back then.

Before this Rod Trodgard and Lee Marshall would talk about the AWA in Great Britain in other parts of Europe week after week with the impending "details soon". One week they actually named the co-promotion in GB. I looked it up and could find no AWA in Europe results. Maybe Greg did fly out and appear on a few cards, but I doubt there was a AWA Tour of Europe.

The AWA claimed in the summer of 1988 to have placed its show on TF1 in France. TF1 is a major network in that country that began as a French version of the BBC or CBC, but eventually became a privately owned and operated network. I have a hunch there was something to the TV deal, because it's a bit odd that the AWA would go so far out of its way to name the network like that, a name that meant nothing to anyone stateside, as opposed to just claiming generically to be on TV in France. The AWA never seemed that detail oriented. I do completely agree that no tour of France ever occurred, however.

Hopefully I will come across a list at some point that mentions what was available on satellite in Europe back then. Because I have a freaking WWWF VHS "official" bootleg from 1980 (footage from 1979) I do wonder what wrestling releases and shows from back then are still lingering around without anyone knowing.
