Dennis promoted wrestling in Milwaukee beginning in the mid 1960's and continued for many years. Always brought the best to Milwaukee. Hilgart, Dennis E. Of Waukesha, died Tues., May 3, 2016 at Avalon Square at age 77. He was born in Park Falls, WI on April 22, 1939 the son of Theodore and Eva (nee Ball) Hilgart. On Sept. 13, 1973 he married Barbara Sterner-Burback; she preceded him in death on July 6, 2007. Dennis spent his life working as a country music promoter and professional wresting promoter. He also spent many years working as a real estate investor. He loved downhill skiing, golfing and race car racing but most of all loved being with his family. He will be sadly missed by his children, Jason (Fiancee Michelle) Hilgart, Anton (Leah) Burback and Johnette (Thomas) Skubal, his grandchildren, Kalen (TJ) Anderson and Samantha and Joshua Skubal and one great-grandchild Thomas Anderson. He is further survived by his sister Cathy (Harry) Berg along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his wife Barbara, he was preceded in death by his brother Theodore "Teddy" Hilgart and his sister Joanne. Visitation Mon., May 9th from 4PM until the time of the 7PM funeral service at the FUNERAL HOME. Private burial Tuesday at Salem Cemetery in Wales. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the Southeastern Wisconsin Chapter, 620 South 76th St. Suite 160, Milwaukee, WI 53214.

After years of success promoting AWA wrestling, he became the WWF's local promoter in Wisconsin and ran the Summer 1988 card at Milwaukee County Stadium that drew 27,000 for Hogan vs. Andre in a cage and Savage vs. DiBiase plus a large undercard.

WrestleFest was like two house shows back to back. 36 guys on the card and just about everyone was in the right spot. I think Jerry Allen and Junkyard Dog were the only two with subs that night. Somewhere I have the press release and Hilgart May have been doing the lion's share of the work but Jim Troy was taking the credit in the publicity.

The same Jim Troy who was involved with Vince's hockey experiment and wound up in the WWF?
